fishercraft
A newbie here. After pouring a few baits using the kitchen microwave, the fumes from the hot plastic made me wonder - does anyone out there set up and pour their baits outside instead of in the kitchen, garage or basement? I pour next to my stove's vent but it isn't very powerful and the fumes keep wafting toward me just like campfire smoke:). I know pouring outside won't work if it's raining or when the pollen is fierce like it is in Georgia right now. I thought of putting my pot or microwave on a rolling cart that could go in and out as needed and I have a table on the deck with power close by. Any tips or advice? saint308
I used to pour outside. Just make sure you are blocked from the wind. Saint.
King Bait Co.
Try doing it by the stove. The range vent should cut the smoke down if its vented to the outside or by the window with a fan blowing out side.
rxfish
I pour outside every chance I get. Nothing like breathing fresh air, enjoying the scenery and getting the job done all at the same time.
nova
If you use pyrex outside you have to be careful of a "cooling" wind. It can explode your pyrex. www.novalures.com
fishercraft
Thanks Nova, you're the second one to mention the effect of wind on cooling the plastic. Notice you're from Canada where the winds are indeed cooler than here in Georgia. Here I probably will have to worry about humidity perhaps clouding the baits. nova
It has happened to me. I finished pouring one cold day and when I opened the door to leave the shop; which is next to where I pour; the pyrex cup exploded as I was stepping out the door and sprayed glass and hot plastic right where I stand to pour. Glad I wasn't there; lol. Pouring is a lot of fun but you have to be aware of everything you do or it can get scarey in a hurry. www.novalures.com
