worms are really sticky??

Recommended Posts

I've been pouring a few finesse baits the last few days and all my worms are coming out really sticky. I'm using the soft plastic and that may be it because all I've ever used before was the tube plastic for swimbaits with a buddy of mine and it never caused a problem. What if anything can I do about this. I bagged them up with a bit of plain old salt and that helped a bit but is there a better way??

things that make them sticky are

Plastic isnt mixed well enough < most likely cause

Too much softener < if you add'd softener its the most likely cause

an additive that doesnt work

not cooked enough <<< Doubtful as you wouldnt be able to pour it in a finess bait

If the baits are coming out of the mold sticky, set them off to one side and let the set up for 24 hours. I add softener to all my plastic (I use Calhoun from Del). When the baits are warm and fresh out of the mold they are stickey, I place them in a shallow pan and let them cure overnight. They come out super soft and they are still durable. Add a little oil and scent you should be good to go.

Thanks for the help. I bet I didn't mix it well enough. I got in a hurry now that I think about it and just filled my pyrex from the top of the jug without shaking it up. I didn't have any additives in - just plastic and a few drops of color and I was stiring it well, but I will try mixing it real well in the jug today before I go to heat my plastic. Thanks again.
