MarshManiaC
When you are pouring and decide it's time to call it a day, how do you leave your pots? Do you leave the leftover plastic in it and remelt it the next day or do you pour out all you can into, say a pyrex dish? I have been leaving mine in the Lee pots and sometimes have a burn problem when remelting even though I stir until I have Popeye forearms. OhioMike
I have the same poblem with burning if I leave the plastic in the pots. When I first bought my pots I got a couple extra, I was gonna dedicate these to certain colors, leave the plastic in them all the time. Yeah right. I now clean my pots after each use, takes about 5 min per pot after they cool.
Mercury
I do not cook or reheat plastic in the hot pot. I only use it for pouring. I cook and re heat in a pyrex cup, then pour it in after I have it turned on for maybe a minute. Constant stiring is a must as you know. But after you turn off your pot and let it cool I take it appart and remove the plastic ingot. Shoot speaking of ingots someone here gave this as a tip a while back. ""Use a plano container, after you have cooked your plastic and have it colored you can then pour the plastic into the plastic box and then have yourselves pre made plastic ingots."" When you are finished with that color, pour it into the plano box and use it another time. THen when you go to clean it its nothing more than a thin film on the walls of the pot now. It peels of easialy with your fingers rubbing on it. Hope that might help a bit.
MarshManiaC
Cool, thanks for that Plano idea...... funny though, I have 4 pots and only one has the problem..I think it may be a thermostat problem... I can live with the ingots
Mercury
Evrey pot that I have burns the plastic at some point. My smaller pot is worse than the bigger one, burns it when its on setting #3. THats why I try not to use it much. I thought the plastic ingots were a good idea too. Thats why I brought it up again. siebler_custom_baits
We always drain the pot and scap it out. Then use a screwdriver and a paper towle and wipe it out.
Mercury
I never scrape it out, but I do use a rouond wire brush on the end of a drill to clean it. Then worm oil is used on the fresh surface.
siebler_custom_baits
i dont mean scrape but actually just use a flat-blade and get most of it out. This is much better because then all you must do is add new plastic for the next batch or the next day.
Delw
When I am done pouring I leave the mess for my wife to clean up(she just toss's it aside) I mainly pour using pyrex out to the microwave, so thats a no brainer. I have 3 pots that I just unplugg and goto bed( I always pour the night before a tourny or late late at night. when I want to re heat them I goto the garage and plug them in at a low setting(every pot is different) and then go do other things for for a few hours. hardley ever get burned. when in pots I use heat stabilizer Delw
