Ogajiga
I've posted before about the deteriorating quality of Sickle jig hooks, especially a recent box of #2 reds which only had 900 useable. Well, since then I got a box of 1/0 blacks that was so bad I couldn't use em. Not only was the off shape needing repairs over 50% but the temper was bad aka too easy to bend out. But, boxes of #1 red & black received yesterday were about perfect - like Ultra Points no need to sort out duds. Was wondering if perfect Sickles was a lucky fluke or has Matzuo finally gotten their quality control...under control ?
Elken
The last few boxes I recieved were pretty good; I always expect to have a few bad hooks in a 1000 pack, but no more than 10.
fish devil
I normally get 50 -150 bad hooks out of 1000. I haven't purchased sickles hooks in a while. Might give them a 2d chance.

rr316
Speaking of bad hooks, I gave some jigs to a couple buddys and one was checking it out and got P.Oed at me, here the hook must not have been run through the sharpening machine or how ever they do it, it was blunt on that end, I never caught it:whistle:. He thought I was setting him up for failure:lol: Kinda like when I chopped the business end of the hook off of one of my buzzbaits, I kept it in my boat for when my Bro inlaw asked for tackle (he's always getting freebies) I knew he wouldn't check it, so every blow up he had that day I was standing ready with my white senko to clean up all his misses:whistle: I finally had to tell him when he threw a hissy fit
Zib
Where are you guys buying the sickle hooks from? Are the bad hooks coming from the same supplier? The one time that I used them for my darter heads I bought them from Cabelas. No noticeable defects but they sure weren't the strong hooks that Matzuo claims them to be. Ogajiga
I've been getting Sickles for years from Shorty's. Looking to replace the bad box of mis-shapen and soft 1/0 blacks but as of today they were out of that size & color.
HookUp
I normally buy lots of 100 and only get a few bad ones. I guess when they count out smaller lots the quality control goes up?

Ogajiga
Kelly, that is the model # of the 90* BC color Sickle jig hook. If you have a Shorty's price list, the model #s are posted for each hook type on the far left. Does anyone know if Sickles are available in a heavy wire 90* jig hook? Elken
I had some heavy wire sickle mixed in with the regular wire ones in a couple packs of 4/0 BN jig hooks last year. I called the Matzuo America people trying to find out if I could get more. They basically blew me off. The latest box of 149010 hooks I got this year looked good, but I noticed there are quite a few hooks with the hook eye turned out a few degrees.
