Bassbum
Hey RipLIP, no luck on the pics yet. he has to pick up a card reader so he can load them in his computer then will send them to me. Where in NH are you? he can just go to wally world (walmart) and get them downloaded to a disc while he waits.........they're open 24/7.........cheap too........ soccerer
Anyone who fishes without a lisence is stealing from the rest of us who pay to keep the fisheries going. Besides all that I think the whole story is a crock of bull. Too many unusual circumstances. It is almost an insult to peoples intelligence to think that this story is even worth the time of day. If it looks like a rat and smells like a rat..........
haulinbass227
How is he stealing from you??? He has purchased a license and no doubt will face a hefty fine when he goes to court resulting in him donating a hell of alot more than you do to the upkeep of the fisheries. Do you carry a plastic bag with you and pick up other people's garbage at fishing holes like he does or are you the one that drops it on the ground and walks away??? As far as all the negative comments i expected that. Some from jealously some from ignorance and some from wanna be lawyers. I agree he probably shouldn't get the official state record because of no license but Ny state will determine that not you, not me, not him. Whether you are right or wrong i guess everyone has there own opinion. Me, I am going to wait for the state to determine the outcome and wait to see the pictures. The key word in this whole story is in the heading POSSIBLE. cHECK IT OUT IN THE WEBSTER'S DICTIONARY AND YOU WILL THEN KNOW WHAT IT MEANS. Enjoy your negative day. soccerer
How about this: Give me the DEC officers name. All the officers names and phone numbers are listed in the rule book and I will call the officer myself and see if the story has any validity. Let me guess though, you don't know his name and your son doesn't remember. Just to let you know I am a Scoutmaster and I have been involved with countless clean-up projects on local waterways. I am not a negative person at all. I am however a disbeliever of your story. Give me the gameys name and if the story is true I'll apologize online and send your and you son some of my bass jigs free.

CreekMonster
Hey man, I'm not trying to be negative or disbelieving. I LOVE to see pics of hawgs caught by anyone. I learned a long time ago that people just don't believe "fisherman". You know, the old "fish stories" line. So I started taking pics of anything and almost everything I caught. Sure is fun to show the pics to somebody after they've ragged you about stretching the truth. As a matter of fact, me and a friend were fishing in a private lake 2 weeks ago and as we neared the grass line, I heard a splash and something hit me in the back of the leg.( It scared the living %*#! out of me since they claim there are gators there) I looked down and there was a 3 lb bass flopping on the deck of the boat. I netted it, took a pic, and changed pants, lol. Noone believes that one either. So don't worry, nobody believes a fisherman, not even fisherman. I do know that here in Alabama, the very first requirement of many to claim a state record is "It must be legally caught " That's not an exact quote, but you get the meaning. Good luck to your son. By the way, F1 Tiger Bass. Here's the website of the lakes we were fishing. Donavan Lakes Fishing Club - Marion, Alabama Enjoy, Jay

Hey Haulin...I can't really say your story is true or false, but you do have to understand where people are coming from. You posted a thread two weeks ago about how your son may have caught a record Largemouth. You posted this thread in a story like manner similar to something one might read in a reader's digest, which has grabbed people into wanting to see this hog. I don't think what's causing all of the flaming directed at you boils down to what the state says, but rather the pictures of this huge fish. You have to expect a little from the TU members, especially from those who live in NY, when you're reasoning behind not posting pictures is that your son can't get them off of his digital camera. In the day and age we live in, there are too many options to solve the problem and when you're talking about a possible record size fish, I don't think it matters if the state recognizes it or not. Like has been stated, he can always go back and catch it again from this remote pond. I would just think most people would do anything possible to get the pictures downloaded and not put it on the back burner...I know I would be at a 24 hr walmart with card in hand and some cash. My point in all of this is to say that you shouldn't get so defensive and understand that you brought alot of this on yourself. With that being said...if your story is true I can't wait to see the pictures...record or not, but if you never show pics and NY never talks about this then you can kiss any respect on this site goodbye. I hope that's not the case.
haulinbass227
I also don't understand why he is taking so long to send the pics. I know if i had caught this lunker i would have had the pics. posted the same day i caught it. i will call him again today and tell him of all the negative feedback and try to push him to get me the pics. asap. If it turns out he is full of @#+^ which i highly doubt you will all have my deepest apologies. Even though he has 2 boys and no income i think i would at least find someone to help him get the pics. I will try to get him to go to Walmart and have them printed out and mail them to me so i can scan them and post them.
haulinbass227
Just got off the phone with my son. NY denied his record because of no license. Oh well guess he will have to catch it again. He said he tried to send me the pics through email 3 times this am but i didn't receive them so he will copy them to a disc and mail them to me in the morning. I will post some pics as soon as i receive it if i can figure how to do it. if anyone knowing how to post pics would please let me know how i will set it up so when i get them i'll be ready. Thank you
fishstory
Oh what a tangled web we weave... I think it's time to start taking bets on what happens next. Will it be: 1) The pictures arrive, haulinbass posts the pics which clearly show a 12+ lb. bass, and all of the doubters (myself included) are forced to eat crow. Soccerer lives up to his word and sends haulinbass and his son some of his bass jigs. 2) The pictures arrive, haulinbass posts pics that have clearly been doctored using Photoshop, and the debate/argument rages on. 3) haulinbass' son copies them to disc but subsequently deletes the originals. Then, the envelope with the disc never arrives (damn U.S. Postal Service!) and all evidence of the goliath bass is lost forever. 4) haulinbass' son copies them to disc but subsequently deletes the originals. The envelope arrives, but the disc is corrupted and all evidence of the goliath bass is lost forever. 5) haulinbass gets the disc with the pictures but can't figure out how to upload them. What transpires is a series of posts with broken links and, despite numerous offers from other site members to help post the pics themselves, this debacle continues for 3 more weeks and eventually just fades away with no pics ever successfully posted. Ok, what else am I missing?

redg8r
Alright, you have your answer, the old record stands, I figured from the first post that the record wouldn't be honored without a valid license. fishstory, your username, post count & NY location undoubtedly shows you and a few others joined up only to see or dispute this fish. Show a little restraint, give him a little more time to get the pics in question & then you can go on your way to another site. haulinbass227 - if you have trouble using the image upload, you can email them directly to tu@tackleunderground.com I know myself, like everyone else would love to lay eyes on a 12+ lb. NY bass. Edited April 30, 2008 by redg8r
haulinbass227
None of the above!!! He has them in his computer, on an sd memory card, in his picture phone and is burning several discs. I don't think the pics will be lost. Also when i get the disc i will be glad to burn a copy and send it to anyone that would like it. There i think that will prevent the loss of the pics. Now if someone could just tell me how i download a program so when i get the disc. i can post them on here!!!! Not trying to be a wiseguy-just trying to cover all the bases so you all can see the pics and make your own prognosis as to the size. I know it's hard to tell by a picture as to the exact size of the fish but he says there are other things in the pics to try to compare it to. And NO the pics are not edited or doctored up. Just to let you know he will be there this evening trying to hook it again. I am hoping he catches it again so he can remove all doubt and get the new record. Being a female it may have layed it's eggs already and may weigh less than originally weighed but it should still be bigger than 11lbs. 4 oz. IamSpartacus
Yeah I was curious if anyone knows how much weight a female of that size would drop after laying her eggs? Seems like it would be a relatively decent amount. Tell your son good luck from me(not that he has any clue who I am or even that I exist). 6_feet_deep
..Now if someone could just tell me how i download a program so when i get the disc. i can post them on here!!!! Sure, when you get the disc load it into your cd tray and navigate to the drive (probably D or E) where the cd is located, if a window doesn't appear asking you what you want to do. Double click the drive letter and then a window will open displaying the pics. Hit the "CTRL" + "A" buttons at the same time to select all of the images and then right click on any of them to select "copy" from the drop down menu that appears. Now, go to the place on your computer that you would like to save them and then right click again, but this time select "paste" and the pics will copy into that location. Once they are on your cpu, open up TU and reply to this post like you've been doing. You should see a little paper clip located beside the font selection and size menu. Click on it and then select the "Browse" button. Navigate to the location where you saved the pictures on your computer, hit ok, and then once you've done that you can hit the "upload" button and the pics will be in your reply as thumbnails. Or: You can send them to Jerry and he can upload them for you... Good luck!

redg8r
the photobucket website will provide you with a code snippett you can paste into your post, it will look something like: [img=http://www.photobucket.com/some_image_folder/yaddah/yaddah] Which will be parsed by TU & display the picture, or you can email it to me & I'll insert it into your first post at the top of this thread. CreekMonster
Have your son check into the license rules and regulations in depth. There may be something he can use that they are not disclosing. I know that state laws are different, but down here, if you are fishing in a private, land locked pond or lake, (as long as there isn't a creek or stream passing through it), you don't have to have a fishing license. This has been the case for years, however, they change rules every year, so don't hold me to it. I thought this might be of some help just in case he wants to pursue the record. Anyway, it's worth looking into. Jay
