hello there guys and gals! my name is matt im 23 years old and living in southern cali (riverside) im always at the lake on the weekends and if playing hookie from work works out im there on the weekdays lol. i just started trying to make my own lures (lost over 65$ in lures the last fishing trip and that was only 3 lures) so i said what the heck time to get some wood and start carving!

now ive never done this before so im new to everything. i posted a thread in the hardbaits forum with 2 of the lures ive made. ones a crank and the other is a swimbait.. since there wood i plan to coat them with epoxy and than paint.

i hope to learn more about this art and hopefully perfect it. ive looked at lot of the work you guys have down and it is simply awesome! most of them look exactly like the lure id buy in the store so i tip my hat to all of you! i hope to learn all the tips and tricks there are to making lures so maybe i wont break my wallet at bass pro shop haha..

well thanks for taking the time to read this. if you have more time please check out my thread in the hard baits forum and tell me what you think.

Welcome aboard Matt... I just wanted to add that you'll want to use the search function a little to get the correct process for finishing your lures. Some of the Hardbait experts can really help you get this figured out; the steps are something like sealing the wood, primer coat, adding color and pattern, and an epoxy cover coat. You'll want to protect the wood with an unbroken epoxy coat that keeps the water out. Again, good luck.
