pastorshane
Graddie, welcome to the forum. I'm not sure any one makes crappie tube molds. Most tubes are dipped I think, not poured from a mold. But Del-mart does sell some bass tube molds. You can buy a basic starter kit from $30-$150 depends on what you want. As far as plastic and supplies lure craft, del-mart, mf plastic, ozark tackle, senkosam, zeiners bass shop, are some good starter places. They all have web sites, but you should do a basic forum search for a topic, you will get answers to most all your questions. Shane.
Richard Prager
This is one possibility. The DVD is woth every penny plus some. As Shane said, use the search method at the top of the page to find out more about dipping tubes

grady garrett
OK, I did find out some info. What the difference between pouring into a mold or dipping. What is Dipping? How do you make mult color, core tubes by dipping. I'm still confused:huh:
pastorshane
Graddy, dipping is where you dip a rod or fixture into the hot plastic itself. Then you pull the plastic off the rod when it cools, pouring is where you actually pour the hot plastic into a 1 or 2 piece mold. Send "Bojon" a member on here a pm. He has made tubes longer than I've been alive, I'm sure he can answer your questions in better detail.
Bass-Boys
this is a touch off topic,, sorta,,, and has been asked before I am sure,, but.. do all brands of plastic float ??? mainly the softer stuff... I use Lure Craft and it floats like a bobber,,
SWO
This is one possibility. The DVD is woth every penny plus some. As Shane said, use the search method at the top of the page to find out more about dipping tubes +1 on this. Bojon's e-book and kit will teach you to make any color & size tube you want in no time. It is well worth the small price he charges for this.

King Bait Co.
Sorry Bass-Boys I forgot to put that on last night. My own opinon is that calhuon 1201 doesn't float with a hook in it. Without a hook it has sunk and it has floated in my fish tanks. I mean my testing tanks (LOL). It has a slow fall I think is good for weightless action. I always use a 1/16 to a 1/2 bullet weight on my rigs. I haven't used my M-F Super Soft yet so I won't speculate on it floats or not. Bass-Boys
Thats my deal too... I always use weight on my rigs, So the weightless fall rate is not an issue with me.. But.. Some of the guys using my baits fish weightless.. and a floating bait is not good for that..My Fat Ika Knock Offs are the main deal on the weightless rig,,
King Bait Co.
I think you can fish them weightless no matter what plastic you use. Long as you use a 4/0 or a 5/0 worm hook. I think the hook serves as the weight when you use these bigger hooks. For baitcasters probaly not a good idea. I think if you have smaller baits the smaller hooks would work. I may open my M-F super soft. So I can see if its the same as Calhuon 1201 when I put a hook in or if it floats without anything in the bait. MDC
MF plastic floats too. BassBoy, put salt in your Ikas and they will sink
Bass-Boys
I do use a good dose of salt.. and they do sink.. but , I have been playing with the amount of salt & I was surprized at how much salt you need to make um sink good,,The skirts do not have any salt & they kinda work like an umbrella and more salt is needed with skirted baits.. what else happens is... with a lot of salt you need to add more color & softner to compensate for the salt...I just was thinking that if there was a plastic that did not float then you could use less salt,, softer & color.. just a thought?? Richard Prager
If you can come up with a plastic that will sink without salt, you'd be a wealthy man! I know that a lot of guys that pour sticks with salt use M_F super soft. You don't have to add much if any at all softener. Question: If you don't add salt to the skirts, does the bait stand straight up? That would work great on a shakey head.
Bass-Boys
If I go light on salt in the main bait,, the skirt will pull to the top.. but it takes a few seconds to do so.. with the normal amount of salt the bait will lay on the bottom and hold the skirt down. this is with no hooks or weight..just testing the bait itself in a bucket of water. GB GONE
If you can come up with a plastic that will sink without salt, you'd be a wealthy man! Send me your $$$$ Richard!! I have some in the shop!! Jim
King Bait Co.
152 make a saltless stik and fish it. It will stay on top of the weeds for top water action. Then say if you fish it wacky it has a slow slow fall that can't be touched. sometimes I will admit it won't fall at first but if you jerk it lightly it falls then. King Bait Co.
I am not sure best way to find out crack one open. It will cost you $0.75.
bhorlings
I don't think they use salt. I have bit the head off plenty of them and they are not gritty like when you get sand in your mouth... just my two cents.
