JROCK
Sorry if this horse has been beaten to death but I was wondering how you guys are sealing your POP molds? Thanks, JROCK
boomah21
Try a search I personally use epoxy, devcon 2ton or glaze coat. Other folks out there use elmers glue. The important thing is to really thin your coats with epoxy I thin mine with Denatured alcohol. This allows the pop mold to really soak up the epoxy. Remember that multiple thin coats is almost always better than 1 thick coat. Take your time at this stage because if you rush through it and dont let your epoxy properly dry or you put too much epoxy on it will really screw up your mold. hope that helps
King Bait Co.
I was told and have used 50/50 elmers glue and water. It works good also.
longhorn
My choice is Elmer's glue all. You can flood the cavities with a 50/50 water mix or paint them with straight un-thinned glue or a combination of both. Works great and dries thin so you don't lose detail. With any coating make sure your mold is dry. I bake mine in the oven at 325 for an hour per inch of mold thickness.
boomah21
Wow longhorn thats a long time and quite hot....I have only been doing it at 200 for 30 - 40 mins (not as happy with my results) I think I will give that a try. Thanks
Willy
I too use several treatments of a elmers glue/water mix. You will see quickly it takes several coats, but after that it works well. Also, Longhorn is right, plaster holds a little moisture inside for a long time, so an oven bake is a really good idea to dry it out before you coat. nova
I've used both as well as several other things over the years. I prefer the epoxy; but that's just me. www.novalures.com
