King Bait Co.
But the real question is which one? How many are their? What brands version?
norvick3
the original snoozers road kill,by far the best
earthworm77
Who else makes it besides Reaction Baits and BPS? The original Snoozer tubes were made by Mizmo and they do carry Roadkill Camo now, it is pretty much the same. As for Snoozers hand pours, the roadkill was off when compared to the tubes, it was a bit more brown with a bit of extra copper mixed in. Not negatively criticizing that because those Snoozer baits were the deal. I was a rep for Snoozers way back when and when they went out, I based a line of tubes on the old stinky Snoozer tubes....the original ones that were wet in the package, not the dry ones they switched to. They may have been the same tube but the scent was definately different. I sell a ton of them to this day.
Smallie
anyone have a recipe for roadkill camo? Earthworm - the question was does anyone have a recipe. Since you responded to the post, what recipe to you use?
earthworm77
Smallie, you responded first, I wouldn't be a gentleman if I didn't give you the opportunity to divulge your recipe.
Smallie
Earthworm - I don't have one because I don't like the color. I bought some tubes and they worked for me when the bass were hitting lots of colors but I have much better luck with my standard 3 colors. Black, green pumpkin and watermelon are what I throw most of the time. I vary the flakes as I find preferences of the bass in a particular lake. Purples and reds similar to those in a Yamamoto 234 or 918 are also in my bag but that gets used on the days it is on. I only fish in New England and mostly clear water so that I can keep it simple and concentrate on patterning the fish. I find it funny that everyone is trying to find out how to make this "magic color" when I didn't find it to be all that hot. Sure, every bait has its day but the basic colors are what gives consistency. Norvick3 - being new to the forum, I suggested the search function because you apparently didn't take advantage of it. The link below is a search of this forum. Tackleunderground - Search Results If you read through the posts there are several recipies. Roadkill is basically a green pumpkin with Hi-lites so you may want to do a search on Hi-lites too. Print out all the recipes and start pouring. If you have a new "store bought" Roadkill bait that you like, use that as a master. If not, change it up till you get something you like. That is why I like pouring my own baits - I can adjust the basic colors to suit my waters.
earthworm77
I wonder what is a more closely guarded secret, this recipe or the type of paint used on soft plastics?
Smallie
I think the paint opens a lot more doors than the recipe. As I said earlier today, I haven't tried the swim baits yet but it seems like the ability to color them as you like is key to being able to "match the hatch". I think having a bait that swims like and looks like the natural forage would be very affective in the fishing arena. The swimbaits I bought are reflective of the bait fish in my lakes. I look forward to trying them in the post spawn and into the summer season.
rixon529
Found this using the "SEARCH" function. One member’s recipe posted May 2007: The road kill I use is 10 drops LC green pumpkin, 5 drops LC watermelon and small amount of copper powder. Add black flake and done. The search function is invaluable. I found this in about 30 seconds... Edited June 1, 2008 by rixon529
