Lincoya
I'm thinking about buying an LED blacklight and was wondering if any of you have any "product reviews" that you'd be willing to share. Are they worth the money or should I just stick with my old fluorescent light? Thanks for any info that you might have. Gene
CreekMonster
I don't know about the blacklight, but I just bought a 3 led light that clips onto the bill of your hat and it works great. Got it at wal mart for around $10. They had one just like it with black light leds. Might be worth trying out for $10. Jay
King Bait Co.
My friend uses one for cat fishing. He says it keeps the bugs down. They have line that glows under black lights so they can see the lightest nibbles and makes line tieing easier. I also heard that black lights attract some micro oraganzims that small bait fish eat. I don't know if that is true or not I've heared wierder things.
JBlaze
Gene, I am not sure if you are talking about the hat lights or the new LED's that are probably going to replace the old style black lights that we use on our boats. I have a couple of Stan Sloans that have been very reliable over the years. Last year, I got one of the new LED black lights. It has three LED black light bulbs and one very bright white one. It consumes very little power. I think the biggest difference between the two is the angle of the light it puts out. Not sure I am saying this right but the man in the back of the boat can see his line just as well as the man in the front of the boat. I really do not feel that it is any brighter. One other thing I like about it is its small size. There is never enough space in my boat and it takes up very little. I will not hesitate to get another one when my other lights give up the ghost. Troul Hawk
I have two of the Nucli-Eye Extreme, and I absolutely LOVE them. They are a bit high in price, but worth every penny if you stay out on the water much at night. The extreme version has three options, blue light(non glowing) only, black light only, and all six LED drivers on at the same time. default image I have installed RCA ports in four places in my boat two up front and two in the back, and with the single suction cup I can turn the lights to illuminate any angle and the person in the back can also. These things are so bright that you have no trouble at all fishing at night and have caught plenty of smallmouth over 18" with them, so I am confident they don't spook the fish. I see your in TN, if you are ever in Knoxville I would be happy to take you out and let you see for yourself. Lincoya
Thanks to all of you for your info & help. I bought a new Tracker 175 a couple of months ago and found that the curved rails around the boat would not allow the suction cups on my blacklight to adhere to them. I needed to replace the light so, I decided to buy the Night III's from Bass Pro. I bought two units to replace my fluorescent light. I used them last night. I don't think that they put out quite the amount of light that the old light does but it is sufficient. I also love the small size which makes storing them a breeze. Troul Hawk, Thanks for the offer to "take me out and let me see for myself". If the offer still stands (even though I've already bought new lights), I may very well take you up on it. I live near Nashville so, you're not too far away. Gene
