Delw
I've used both LC, MF and my watermellon and have gotten watermellon. you have to put more drops if you are using salt due to the salt is opaque(white), also don't forget to shake the color up very well the pigments settle pretty good, its a pretty good Idea to drop a few 1/4-20 nuts in there and then shake it up. one other thing glitter color will throw your color off as well, and if your glitter is bleeding you will get an entirly different color. I assume your not using any additives besides the salt plastic softenr and glitter? if you are these also could have an effect on your color. mradamh
IMO, Watermelon is odd color. Some like it light, some like it dark. I go for the middle of the road. Not sure if I got the recipe here on TU or Del's site, but I use a mix of Green Pumpkin and Watermelon to get my watermelon color. I bet if you post a pic of the color you'd like to ultimately have, there's bound to be a genius or two on here that can get you close just by viewing the pic. I myself cannot do that, and rely on trial and many errors. But it sure is fun!!! Adam Home
Delw
try adding some Lc pumpkin into it and see if that gives you a better watermellon color. you should be fine with what your using, in all honesty I have no idea why its green and not watermellon. Just by chance your aren't over cooking the plastic are you? ie the clear plastic is getting yellow and smoking alot?
COBRA
i use LC watermellon, sounds like you are adding to much color if they are coming out to dark.

nova
Are you shaking the heck out of the bottle before you use the color? Also. make sure you put a couple of SS nuts in the bottle to help with the colors mixing. Watermelon is one of the touchiest colors. If you don't mix it really well there's no telling how it will come out. www.novalures.com
King Bait Co.
What color watermelon are you trying to make? Their are four or five diffrent versions out their. I have settled on MF brown watermelon with a little of Del's watermelon for some green tint to it.
MDC
I mix colors too. My favorite is 25 MF wmelon green and 3 MF wmelon brown in 4oz (If you're using salt double the amount color). Like mradamh said everyone has their opinion of what is best.
urmomis100
im really not to picky on what kind of watermelon as long as its somewhere in the realm of watermelon. i have been shaking the bottle of colorant but have not stumbled upon the idea of puting hex nuts in the bottle, and i will defintitely try it because i have had problems with colorants not bein mixed well enough. i am also going to get some mf watermelon brown. thanks guys. mradamh
The LC colors seem very rich, which I like. The LC will get pretty dark around 30 drops in a cup (that's w/out salt). A nice variation I used was 8 drops LC Watermelon w/ 8 of Del's Light Watermelon. Not too shabby. My personal preference is mixed w/ Green Pumpkin & Watermelon from LC, but watermelon in general is pretty much a personal preference that you derive through your tests. I suspect most that you make will still catch those lunkers regardless...which is success in my book partner. Adam Home
urmomis100
adam, thats true, very true. every time i screw up a color it still catches the bass that im fishin for perfectly. seems like if its made of natural colors than its fine. bait companies dont sell what they think will catch fish, they sell what they know will catch fisherman. i just caught a 7 pound bass this weekend with a grey that was my 2 cent imitation of natural shad. still, i have set my mind to duplicating watermelon just to get better at duplicating popular colors just incase i end up sellin these in the near future. btw thanks for your help. King Bait Co.
Just to let you know, I use and like MF Watermelon Brown but it's definatly not close to the traditional Watermelon. I love the MF brown watermelon but its a little to brown so I tweaked it a little This is for 12oz 35 Drops MF Brown Watermelon 25 Drops Del Light Watermelon Thats with no salt It gives it a little watermellon green to it. My customers seem to like it.
