King Bait Co. Posted June 24, 2008 Report Share Posted June 24, 2008 What I am trying to do is make a buzzbait have more squeeal right out the pack. Is their anything I can do to achive this. I have heard if you put a thin peice of metal tube on the wire that goes though a off center blade. It will make it louder. I don't have a clue on how to do this I can disassemble it I just don't know what to use. Would a spring from a pen work? or would that just catch more weeds than fish. King Bait Co. Posted June 24, 2008 Author Report Share Posted June 24, 2008 How would I go about crimping the rivet? The larger part that touches the blade. I have been getting my buzzbaits from Hunter Creek. I only use them in tournaments. The rivet does not spin after I throw them into the rocks a couple of times. I am just tring to find a more sensable way to do it. Plus people stare when I do it but it helps me catch fish better after I do it. It seems to make them more squeky and girgle more. JSC Posted June 24, 2008 Report Share Posted June 24, 2008 KingB Just Take a pair of Dykes, Electrical Stripper, Crimper or what have you and put a crimp on the rivet shaft or tube ... Stops it every time and you will get the squeak which will change as the bearing point on the blade is worn (wiil wear the "ear" off if you use them as long as I do). captsully18 Posted June 24, 2008 Report Share Posted June 24, 2008 Besides crimping the rivet, I always take a new buzzbait and hold it out the window while driving to the lake and let the wind spin the blade. heavycover Posted June 26, 2008 Report Share Posted June 26, 2008 Take a small drill bit and open the holes on the blade slightly. Dont use the drill, turn it by hand. Next, sand the surface of the rivet that makes contact til its flat. Next, rough up the bottom ear on the blade where it makes contact with the rivet with a small file. Last crimp the rivet. Posted July 6, 2008 Author Report Share Posted July 6, 2008 Ok I whent a little over board I did eveybodys Idea Crimped rivet, Drilled the holes out a little and tied it to the rack on the roof of my suv for a hour and half trip to a tournament. I thew that thing all day and bam, bam, bam and it kept going. I got 4-19 3/4, 1-18 3/4, 2-18, and a 16 1/2. That was on just that buzzbait. PAVABill Posted July 9, 2008 Report Share Posted July 9, 2008 Along with either crimping or soldering the rivet, I like to take a square pointed nail to the blade holes. Give it a little punch on a block or wood to "square" the hole. It make the bait rattle abit along with the bait squeal. Just dont overly square the hole or it won't spin as easy.
