EmsDad
Hi all, my first post and its a question.... When using J B Weld to make a 2-section pot for doing swirls does it matter which type is used? My local store only stocks the 'fast' kind, will this be OK to use or must I get the standard J B Weld? Can anyone advise me - thanks!
MDC
It should be good as long as you get your divider set in time. I wish I could find the fast set, all I seem to find is the regular, then I have to wait until the next day.
Sonny.Barile
I have never used JB Weld but I have been researching it for a project. I read the specs on both types..... One is 16 to 24 hours cure time and is good to 500 degrees F. The working time is long. The other is only good to about 300 degrees and has only a 4 minute working time. It does however fully cure in only 4 hours. I have not been able to find the tensile strength of either kind........ Hope this was helpfull.............. MDC
Good to know the temp rating. Thanks Sonny
pastorshane
I use the regular Jb Weld. It takes all day and a night to cure, but it is rated so your plasic tempes won't hurt it. I have used my cups I use for swirls for 6 months or so. And have had no problems other than every once in a while the thin edges will chip, and need a minor touch up now and then. Dink Master
Get yourself a Pyrex cup, thin sheet of aluminum, JB Weld and a piece of cardboard. Make a template out of cardboard, that will fit inside your cup, no gaps on bottom or sides. Cut aluminum, JB Weld aluminum into cup. Next day start pouring.
