stankdog
I have learned so much from this site, wanted to share my swimbait hook method, no pouring! Materials needed: 1. Mustad 91768 5/0 (or your choice of hook and size) 2. French wire keepers found at Joann's in the jewelry section. (these help keep the bait from sliding down the hook) 3.Pinch on weights in size of choice. 4.Stainless or bronze Hitchiker( i prefer Med. size and a drop of glue to hold bait) Crimp weight on hook shank, attach Hitchiker, and thread wire keeper on shank, rig fave swimbait and slide wire keeper so it just touches the belly of the swimbait! p.s. NEVER throw 5 inch swimbaits in front of Big Tarpon, takes way too long to reel them in!!
King Bait Co.
Is that a Fathead swimbait?
TNBasser
Great idea Stankdog. I assume the baits still run true with this rig or you wouldn't ge doing it.
boomah21
Not sure if you guys have seen this set up either but looks pretty promising. Blade-Runner Swim Bait Insert Weighted Hook I am sure it wont be long and we will have tons of advancements with hooks/terminal tackle geared towards the progressing swimbait. BTW anyone pouring a hook similar to that above?
stankdog
-King, Yes that is a Fathead, has a great side to side shimmy not a roll , looks just like a mullet! - TN, runs str8 as long as you rig it str8,
King Bait Co.
I got a couple packs of them this spring I have used two so far. They work great I am not a big fan of the colors I picked out tought they would work only had a couple on them. I have been using Big Bite Baits swimm baits they have a more relistic color to them. You are right on the side to side shimmy it rocks. I just hope they come out with better patterns next year. I do like the shad I will have to say. stankdog
Funny you say that as that is my only complaint with the Fatheads, I was given some "new" saltwater colors and did'nt like any of them, as far as action, nothing better for me:twocents:
King Bait Co.
Its their first year that I have seen them. So maybe they will read this and come out with better colors next year.
