JSC
Well you guys have gotten off onto Carp ... lets turn this out a little further to the White Amur or Asian Grass Carp that has been stocked so many places to help keep the weeds down ... those dudes get up to the 60's and 70's .... Have heard of them in Golf course ponds following the grass mowers around and actualy sliding up on the bank to eat the clippings as they had cleaned the pond of weeds ... They are suppose to be "nutered" Hello .. they have gotten to some of our rivers from broken pond dams ... they can tear up bedding areas and take away natural weeds .. really bad in some places .. to further complicate things .. they are protected in places and you cannot have them in your possesion even in waters they were not stocked in. They can really put up a fight and are excellent targets for the archery fishermen but because of the protection they are left alone ... I wonder if any one out of the state of Florida has the same problem ??? JSC
King Bait Co.
JSC are thoes the nasty carp that fly out the water and hit you when your boat or jet ski is moving. I think they have killed two or three people. I always here about them in the Missippi river and hoe they are destroying everything in their path. I think they got in their from the floods in the late 90's.
diemai
@ hazmail So finally it seems , that there still is something positive about those carp , if those Murray Cod are feeding on them to increase stock again:) !

philB
Yes Phil, sorry about that, this has drifted quite a way from where we were, the great time had, and the good people we met in May MEET, my apologies. pete Hey Pete Apologies are not required. This is a forum and diversity is welcome, I am glad at least it shows folk are reading these threads. It is quite interesting the different attitudes to carp, here in the UK they are a much sought after and prized fish although I have to say they have never lit MY bonfire
JSC
Sorry about getting off of the subject .. KBC We do not have them jumping into boats & what have you. A new thread has been started on this subject. See Ya there. My Apolgies Guys .... By the way there were 3 years that I did not fish any from age 10 and that was the 3 years in England ... was a real pain to get the necessary permits & etc. I enjoyed watching Trout off of the bridge in the Village of Fairford ... We had plenty of streams around us with excellent Trout fishing but never made it .. course I was young and single and had other things that seemed to take a lot of time. Where I was stationed (Fairford RAF Station Gloustershire) was really pretty country side .... JSC
Spike-A-Pike
Those Asian carp are closing in on Lake Michigan via a man made channel going through Chicago. There is a temporary electrical barrier in place with a permanent barrier under construction. The water clarity caused by this carp allows sun light to penetrate deeper, causing an unwanted bacteria to contaminate the drinking water that supplies Chicago and other lake side cities. I have viewed video footage of folks trying to net the jumping carp. Other guys go bow fishing for the carp; they claim it reduces their numbers and maintains the skills of the archer on a moving target. King Bait Co.
I don't think they make enough arrows from the way it sounds. Maybe a good hand gernade wouldd knock a few out.
