EYEweign
To all you powder painter out there....I am new to powder painting and wondering if anyone is storing their powder paint and everything that goes along with powder painting (fluid bed, cups, molds, etc.) in a tupperware container. They are air tight and can be burped to make a vacum to keep humidity out. Or is there something out there that is better at storing everything? Thanks to all the TU members that have posted threads on powder painting, lead melting & fluxing, and casting.

I use the jars that pro-tec comes in but did find some small ziplock types at a dollar store that work just fine. As far as storing my other gear, you couldnt swing a dead cat without hitting some tackle making equiptment in my basement.

If you are storing lots of powder by the lbs. Use gatorade bottles. The inner cover seal is silicone, and it seals tight. Just wipe off the powder on the bottle lip, and screw the cover on. I've had powder in there for years without any problems. BTW, for powder I use everyday, I use the same containers. Works very well. reeves
The containers that Component Systems provides are quite adequate as long as you close the lids tightly, never over the years have I had any problems with them. Caswells uses cans which also seal well and they provide a moisture packet inside as a preventative measure against moisture. Again, have never had a problem with these either. I also have several pounds of powder that is in plastic bags (double bagged), and I keep this stuff in those cheap throw-away strofoam coolers, and have never had a problem with moisture in these either. Just keep in mind that moisture is the number one enemy of powder paint and you should avoid contact with it always. As for my equipment like fluid beds and cups, I do nothing special other that insure the cup caps are seated tightly after each use. I wipe out the fluid bed before each use with a dry rag. Hope all this has been of use to you.
