Ed Brabant
I poured about a gallon of plastic yesterday and one thing I noticed was as you all know when you use salt you need to add a ton more coloring. Is is possiable to dye the salt? Just as a few base colors blue, green, pumpkin and perhaps a motor oil. Just a thought.
nova
The big problem I can forsee is the color not absorbing evenly in the salt. This would cause color inconsistancy in the final product. Shortcuts are fine as long as you can control them. www.novalures.com
Basseducer
Ed, I haven't thought of dying the salt, but I am thinking of using smoked or flavored salt. Maybe I'll pick some up this week. I just did a search for the stuff, Ouch that stuff is pricey especially the sea salt. Maybe I won't get some this week. jmik26
I have put scent into the salt and it worked out well. Dying the salt sounds like a good idea if you can get it to absorb evenly like Nova said...Jeff
Troul Hawk
Maybe adding the coloring while running the salt through a blender, like Daveh shows in his video http://www.tackleunderground.com/forum/soft-plastics-how/13945-pouring-stick-baits.html Never done it, but I would think this would help in making a uniform color. King Bait Co.
Nova the inconsistancy might make a nice bait. If you used clear plastic and the salt didn't bleed.
nova
I think that the color will bleed out into the plastic. The inconsistancy I was talking about was from one batch to another. You could wind up with a slightly different color each time. www.novalures.com
