Kajan
New to this forum, seems like quite a few knowledgeable people I have been pouring many of my fishing lures my sef' since mid 80's. Mostly because here I fish Specks and Reds, and we go thru bou'cou' plastics at a time. Back then we had trouble getting enough lures from suppliers to keep us in the colors we were catchin with. I make all my own plugs for my molds. Was no Internet then so had to learn purdy much on my own. Started with resin and then RTV. Just wanted to introduce mysef', hopefully will pic up few tricks of the trade and maybe help some others.
Basseducer
Kajan, Welcome to the madness, since you have been exposed for some time you're already infected. Well the more you learn the worse it gets. Maybe we can see some of the Speck and Red baits. Keep cookin.
nova
Welcome to TU. I was pretty much in the same boat as you.(thought I was alone in the world). This place will give you a whole new inspiration. Are you a Kajun by blood or birth? If you are by blood, I live in the area that your forefathers came from. www.novalures.com
Kajan
Basseducer, Nova thanks for the welcome. Nova By blood. I live in whats called Acadiana as you would know, from Acadians'. You would prob be one of de' few that could correctly pronounce my last name and it does end in eaux, and not Boudreaux or Thibideaux LOL. But up in Nova Scotia might be( eau'). My newer lures have evolved bou'cou' over the years. I only pour what I use so its all single mold jerk bait style, fairly large lures. Not ready to show my newer lures, but am also workin on 2 new plugs, but will show you a 1986 shad type lure and a 2pc swimbait lures. The shad lure looks like what they came out with Lunker grub. In 87 I made me some molds, but could not find any of the old lures, so will show you a pic of a lure in production that came out years later that is 95% like mine. Reason I had trouble finding some old lures, we got hit and flooded from Hurricane Rita 2.75 years ago. I have been remodeling the masion' since. My old lures are crude compared to the rtv lures. But they did work. Reason I use one pc molds is that we use bou'cou' lures in one fishn trip. I might go thru 50-100 plastics during a weekend, some times less, depends. So for me single molds were faster. Now that I see those melting pots with stirrers, kinda opens up many possibilities This is the production lure that is 95% like my 87 year lure. These pics are my first lures made in resin molds, single and double mold.
Zbass
Kajan, Welcome to the underground. This is THE place for like minds when it comes to tackle making. I am a relative newbie to the site, but have been pouring and molding for about four years. Had I known a site like this was here when I started, I might not be in as much debt. Look forward to seeing more of your lures in the future. Zbass
