xllund
I have some older baits that I want to repaint. Most are plastic body with some sort of clear coat (auto-urethance, or epoxy, not sure) If I sand the exterior of the bait with an something abrasive (sand paper, etc) can I then shoot the bait with some primer and prepare it for painting? Do I need to sand the bait down to the original plastic? Thanks for all your help during the year folks!! Have a great holiday season! Guest Anonymous
Make sure that you do not use a solvent based primer as this will open your sanding groves (no matter how fine) and exagerate them. Also use the finest grit possible and work back to a very smooth finish
out2llunge
I've done some old believers before and had mixed results. I think it depends on the brand of spray paint you use. I used the Home Depot brand recently and it worked great - without priming even. In the past I had nothing but trouble no matter what I did. Experiment first!
