stankdog
Tried pouring some swimbaits wiht tails and laminates, everything going good (see Pic on left) then I got this!?!?!(pic on right) Bottom color kinda bubbled up through the top, actually kind of cool looking maybe in more tranparent color, anyway , this means I am not waiting long enough between colors right? Practice and consistency right? mod edit: changed title from "Check this out! wHAT THE @$%#!" to something more explanatory. see rule #8. Thank you Edited August 5, 2008 by redg8r
finfever
I would say yes give it a few seconds and when you pour the second color pour it slowly and start back towards the tail. This works for me hope it helps you.
DVL Dude
Maybe the plastic is a little too hot and that's why it's blending.
stankdog
Thanks guys, could it have something to do with mold heating up as well?
nova
What you have just discovered is called a split vein. Some guys have tried to do this and can't. It all has to do with the temp of the plastic and how soon after the first color is poured that you pour the second. It's about timing and concentration. Once you get it down you will see that it is a really neat effect. Don't try to "fix" it; just try to improve it. www.novalures.com
stankdog
In tournamnets, we call that dumbing into one! So let me see if I got this right, from the vein threads, split veins are when the bottom color is hotter than the top color being poured over it and it kind of leaks up and through? Could see where this would be a really good looking but challenging thing to duplicate, thanks for the help , I will try to duplicate with clear and pour a glitter vein and see what happens(fingers crossed)
Zbass
stankdog, Make sure the mold is warm when you are going to wait to pour the second color to try not letting it blend. You will get a "cold crack" if the mold is not warm. I hate cold cracks! Zbass
nova
The split vein effect works better with a light and darker color like a smoke and yellow or blue and dark purple; etc. It's also easier to control in a skinnier mold like a worm. www.novalures.com
