First fish your lures caught?????

Recommended Posts

I can't remember, was either a Red or speck in 86 or 87.

Clamboni what kinda fish is that in the top pic???:?

Yellow perch........pretty much any freshwater gamefish in the northeast will eat them. They supposedly make up quite a bit of the diet for smallies up north.

Clamboni, great thread!

Here's mine.................

......The lure, a small replica of a 1920's Heddon "Crab Wiggler". As you can see from the pic it has taken on some water and the finish is cracked but it hangs proudly in my handmade lure collection

........and the lure and fish. The fish is bigger than the lure but not much, LOL but the first one is such a rush that size doesn't matter!

Won't ever forget that July '04 evening on Stonecoal lake!

Here's a pic of Larry, my partner in crime, that I took of a nice one that he caught on one of my 4 inch flatside shad baits...I grabbed the camera right before he unhooked the fish, without any bait repositioning, and snapped a couple of quick pics before he released her...to my surprise the picture came out pretty good, and Larry was kind enough to just let the fish be the focal point on this one! We've done this kind of thing several times in the past year, and as much fun as it is to catch fish on my own baits, it may be even more to watch a buddy do it!

I started pouring 2 color Sluggo's. I think I found a great new color for them you can't buy. My new custom 10.5" Sluggo is white/Black. I pour white in first and them as soon as it gets a skin I pour in the black. Worked well sub surface with no weight and on a 4oz jighead.

6 Stripers from 36 to 42". also lost a dozen lures to Blues biting them in half. At least I can now re-melt the halfs I have left thanks to you guys teaching me how to pour plastics.:yay:

Thanks

This isnt mine, but its the first fish my son caught on his own hand made spinner bait and his own hand poured worm. It also just happened to be the largest pike pulled out of our local Lake so far this year. Hes 9 years old. Our local newspaper is writing an article on him next week. They just finished interviewing him for it today so I am one proud papa!!!!!DSC00169.jpg

Very poor picture , sorry , but eastern winds constantly placed my small boat this way against the morning sun around the anchor rope :o.

A not too large average perch just nailed my new "SuperBug" version(it's history shown in thread : new "Banana" lure) this morning .

These perch are ocassionally quite greedy and go for larger lures .

Also hooked an approx. 25" pike on that very lure a while after , but unfortunately it came loose at boatside , too bad :(!

But this luremodel from "Down Under" has really earned my confidence , gonna make some more coming winter :yay:!

Truly great story about your son , reminds me , when my daughter was in that age , she sometimes outfished her parents as well :yay:!
