pigdestroyer
Is there a reason that everyone used poly bags instead of sandwich bags? It seems like the poly bags are much more expensive. As of now I am just making baits for personal use and the sw bags seem to work fine.
wrm-n
Poly bags are stronger... I use 4 mil bag and make my own from a 1500 foot tube
Tubeman
Polypropelyne bags are clear and will not take on the colour of your baits as quickly. They do not let oxygen in or out, scents are trapped inside. The less expensive version is made of polyethelyne and is less clear and is oxygen permiable. If your planning on selling in stores, the polypro are more attractive for display. Making your own with a heat sealer is even cheaper, I think ? Zbass
Those guys said it right, poly is the only way to go. Not just if you plan on selling your creations but for personal use also. Zbass
charmerbaits
Just an added note to everyone elses statement. I switched from the Poly bags to the barrier bags a couple of years ago. No matter how thick the poly they will still not contain the scent and softness of the baits like the barrier bags will. Yes they are more expensive but if your selling in my opinion they are well worth it. Even for my own use I use the barrier bags. alsworms
I think he might be talking about the laminated "worm proof" bags? AWESOME product, but like charmer said........VERY expensive. Lure Craft sells them here...... Materials & tools > Envelopes & bags > Laminated Reclosable Worm Proof Bags : These 3 mil. laminated reclosable w - LureCraft Unfortunately, no pictures. Bender
You can alos get them from Inpact and Johnson. Do you have links for Inpact or Johnson? How do their prices compare to Lurecraft? We are going to pour up some stock over the winter and need to have a good shelf life so I think it is time to change to laminate bags. One Sock
wow looked at that lurecraft link, over 50 cents a bag? little bit high, I use standard 4 mil bags, and have no problems with them. a 1000 will run about 38.00 delivered.. I see way too many people add drops of oil or scent to the baits in the bag and maybe that's why they leak, might be adding a bit too much. I use a tupperware container and add a few drops to that and swish them around, then pack them, when I seal a ten pack I push all the air out and it's pretty tight, a 10 count bag will have all the baits stacked one on top of the other and they stay that way. I have now mastered the art of 2 finger zip locking while pushing all the air out:)
GB GONE
Ozark Plastics also carries them. I bought mine from Johnson but if I remember right, you have to spring for a case. Laminate bags are more but if the angler keeps your baits for anytime in their boat or outside, they will pay off for you. Anything less than laminate will allow moisture into the bags and to alter the softness of the baits. If the baits contain salt, they will essentially be ruined. I tested all types of 3 mil and 4 mil bags out down here in South GA (100% humidity almost all summer) and had the same results...moisture in the bags. Spend a couple extra bucks and go with laminate. You will not regret it! Jim
HJS
I only pour for myself and a few friends who supply me with their old 9"&12" trolling sassies. I just use Hefty ziplock freezer baggies to store plastics at home and on the boat, available in any grocery store. I don't use scents so leakage is not an issue. 1 qt baggies for 4"&5" stuff and 1 gal baggies for stuff up to 9". I prefer the baggies with the sliding ziptap, much easier to operate during a panic filled blitz of stripers or blues. Also, a shot of PAM in each bag minimizes annoying cling.
