What you need to do is find what works easy for you and what you are satisfied with. We all have our preferences. The biggest thing in jigs is a good lead mix. If you are powder painting, baking your jig is a must on all jigs, especially with multi-colors to cure the paint. At this point you are done. If you want you can add a clear coat to get depth to your paint and extra protection. In the case of the Poison Tail, since you are going to add on 2D or 3D eyes, you must at least clearcoat the eyes to keep them from falling off. When I do any jig with eyes I clearcoat the entire jig. My preference is Devcon 2 Ton 30 minute. This was more for fun and personal use.Now some of the guys are showing an interest in them but i,m not sure if they,ll hold up well enough to put out there. i,ve been using nail polish as a head cement as well .Any thoughts or experience on this one.Unfortunately i can,t get out to test them any time soon (work sucks) Jim Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Before I got into powder paint, all I used was nail polish. I found Sally Hansen's the best, especially when you were done and then you used their clear. As far as durability outstanding, especially when you use their top coat. Nothing however is forever. One other nice thing is that drying time is fast. The drawback I found as I got hooked in this 8 years ago, was that you can not really blend colors together to make a more natural looking baits with nail polish. So I switched to powder paint, the color combinations are endless. Again if you are interested in starting powder painting, I have a tutorial, that can get you started. Just PM me your e-mail. All I can say is you are one of my success stories. Very nice work, with very nice blending. I'm impressed. I still love your avatar. To all that want to learn how to powder paint. The key is to take it slow, less powder is better, you can always add more, ask a lot of questions, and practice, practice and as I always say, when you think you're good practice some more. Cadman i,ll certainly take you up on your offer with your tutorial, i do plan on using powder in the near future so that would be a hugh help.I,ve been to TJ,s site and viewed the video,s a few times i would be inclined to order from them as a first choice as long as shipping wasn,t a killer.(prices on product are good). Ok bottom line is i,m not wasting my time with the nail polish for the time being but for the long haul would switch to powder.Thanks everyone. Regards, PSV PSV, just some info for you. I currently have a order for 20 jigs, with wht basecoat, gold side flanks and black dorsal line. FYI I've done this hundreds of times, and you will never get each and every jig identical. These are hand painted so to speak. They all are close , but not identical. So don't sweat the details, you will do fine. Do the best you can, and if they don't like it, let them go somewhere else. Only you know your quality and limitations. Stick to your guns, and do the best you can, the rest is up to everyone else. You can't please everyone, and don't try, you will die trying.
