EastEnder
I have a question about pearl powdered colors. Do you add this before heating? Just wondering. Don't want to waste plastic since i'm running low.
outdooradvantage
I add mine after I heat my plastic. The only thing I add before heating is flourescent.
bear21211
Eastender I think that is going to be a matter of preference. You can add your colorant, glitter, pearl before or after you heat. I think it all depends on what you are comfortable with. The pearl powders go a long ways so only add a smidgen to your plastics. Seems most try to use way to much and they do not come out right. Good luck
carolinamike
Eastender, When I do hand pours, I always add my pearl after I'm heated and ready to pour. Some white pearls may yellow a little during the heating and I also find that I keep my materials suspended better if I add it when it's ready to pour but you always have to stir. But Bear's right it's more of a preference just whatever you find works better for you. And on the flourescents, if your flourescent coloring is not dark enough or you don't feel like you have enough coloring added to your plastic, add the coloring to a small amount of raw plastic, mix it well, and add it to your heated plastic and stir it in. This is the only way I have got flourescent colors to do well after my plastic was hot.

One Sock
Pearls are fun, it takes quite a bit of experimenting but you can have some awesome results, some baits require a smidgen as posted to get the desired effect, I have some sticks where a 1/4 tsp is needed to get the desired effect and color. i was fortunate enough to stumble across a guy who had about 40 lbs of pearl powder in different colors and had absolutely no use for it, he painted cars and used it in the paint mix but retired and wanted to sell it off, I got it for about 8 bucks a pound which i thought was very very reasonable, so I have experimented with pearls quite a bit, I have also used pearls from many of the other manufacturers out there with mixed results.. again always use a little then add more if you want, you can always add more but not take it away I get very good money for my pearl colored sticks( good to me at least... 6.99 a 10 ct) and you can truly make colors that are not easily duplicated without a recipie9 ( see latest gallery sticks)...if you can make baits that no one else can, you will get a following for them, hence why hand poured laminates and specialty pearl baits get good money from guys who want baits that fish have not seen, at least that is what I am finding out Love the pearls, i could experiment with them all day, and in doing so I now have well over 80 colors in stickbaits alone, a lot are standard but quite a few are original colors I created There are some very talented people onhere that use pearls and hi lites, just check the gallery and you will see what i mean
