snookin4
If you're making larger jigs or weights, a free source is tire shops alot of times they will give you old wheel weights in exchange for a few weights or jigs. The bad thing is the lead is hard and makes a smokey mess. I started using lead from a metal recycling center. just look in the phone book under Scrap metals or Junk dealers and call around until you find someone who has what you want. I also think Stamina sells 1# ingots via mail order.
stumpy
If you know someone who reloads shotgun shells ask them for a source for chilled shot. I used up my supple of scrap lead so I broke open a bag of chilled shot I use for skeet shooting. I think I paid $12 for a 25# bag. Worked fine for the 1/32oz jigs I cast last summer. Didn't really smoke much even though it has a graphite like coating on the shot.
Gr8flyz
Although it will be more expensive than scrap lead, check with a plumbers supply if you have one near you, or most hardwares that sell plumbing supplies should have plumbers lead in 5 lb ingots.
