ApexPredator
I was given two 100 count boxes of Mustad 34185d hooks in sizes 2/0 and 4/0. What mold will these hooks fit? I want to try and find some use for them. Thank you Jimmy
Basseducer
Jimmy, Those should work in any mold that takes a 60* heavy wire hook like the Eagle Claw 410 and 730.
Ogajiga
Here's a link to Do-it jig head molds online catalogue - the molds marked with the blue drop of water take saltwater hooks. Three things tho: 1. The 34185 has a shorter shank than the the EC 410-413 and may not fit those molds. 2. While the EC 410-413 & 730 sometimes interchange, they don't always because 60* O'Shaughnessy jig hooks like the 34185 have a different eye configuration from 60* flipping jig hooks like the 730. 3. 90* and 60* O'Shaughnessy jig hooks seldom interchange to fit the same mold. So, best to have the molds available to check for hook fit before purchasing. Ogajiga
Thinking further, heres a design offered by a mfg. out your way: 12 Fathom-Buzz Tail, Bugsy & Gambini Grubs, Fat Sam Mullet, Slam R, Shadzilla, Scarface Shrimp,Snootie,Sparkie, & Standup Jigs And the Do-it mold: Do-it Molds: Stand Up HD Jig I no longer have this mold, and can't say if the short shank 34185 hook fits because I used the longer shank 413. Generally speaking, I have been able to Dremel cut small slots when necessary to fit shorter shank hook points in Do-its designed for long shanks if the eye configurations matched. ApexPredator
Thanks for the help guys. I guess that I am going to have to modify my mold a little to fit the shorter shank hooks and just see how that goes. Thanks again
pirkfan
I've used 34185s (stainless version of this hook) in Do-It shad head molds, 60 degree ball head, and 60 degree bullet molds from Do-It. You just have to try them in various molds and sizes, and see where they fit.
ApexPredator
Thanks for the heads up. My main problem is that I don't have very many molds at my disposal to check with. I'll look into these molds which you have mentioned. Thanks for the help. Jimmy
