MTfishingrods
Well if If I am not mistaken this hasnt been brought up since 2003 so here goes. How are the larger companies doing this? Any new ideas since the last thread on this? Jerry, any new words of wisdom? I have failed in my latest attempts. It seems so simple yet the search function has turned up nothing. Are there any products that can handle the heat of the plastic that anyone knows of? MTfishingrods
I am going to take that as a big no. But since I failed to ask the question before I tried the brilliant idea of putting minced garlic in my plastic :whistle:I have to ask has anyone ever tried the high temp mylar tape that is being solf for about $7.00 a roll? captsully18
Just so you don't naked here I'll give you an answer......Nope. I have tried this with the same results you are getting. Anyway, how do you like using the minced garlic? I use it and also add garlic oil that I get from DelW, I think. I love to load up my plastic with garlic. MTfishingrods
Well I tried the minced garlic and it burned to a crisp in my plastic. turned into little black specks and smelled terrible. But I do use garlic oil a lot. I add it to the plastic, and then add it to the package. Any tips on keeping the minced garlic from burning would be great. captsully18
I use it when I pour from a Pyrex cup. Stir in just before you pour. It's not without its' problems, but works most of the time. Like you I add oil to package. This is also when I use the minced. I think that it keeps the garlic smell stronger longer. Probably don't need to put it into plastic, just the bag, but more is better. David
MTfishingrods
You want some strong good smelling garlic scent for very little cost. Take a full jar of that minced garlic. empty it into a large fry pan with a full bottle of vegtable oil. Then let it sit there on a medium heat till that garlic is good and brown. Drain the pan back into the original bottle of oil, mark it worm oil and stick it in the fridge. Cheap worm oil. and all you nead to do is either be carefull pouring it so the garlic stays on bottom or strain it out when you get low enough. I like to leave the garlic in till I absolutely have to remove it though just to help keep that stinkin. I am going to do a bit of expiramenting with some anise shrimp and herring oil this winter. I am thinking it may be fun.

Spike-A-Pike
MT, sounds like you're trying to infuse the garlic into the plastic... Ever try vacuum sealing your worms in a plastic bag or a jar? I'm sure someone has probably tried it; I just never heard what the results were. MTfishingrods
Actually spike I have some that are vacuum sealed in the garlic/veg oil now. They are sitting on the shelf in my room and are going be opened over the next several months. Two reasons. #1 I want to know how well the garlic gets into the plastic and how long it takes the scent to leave it after they are opened. #2 I want to know if the Vegtable oil breaks down the plastic at all before I fail with this on a larger more expensive scale.
