clemmy
Well, my jury-rigged motor had died, and I finally found a good deal on a new Dayton gear motor. I don't need any gear reduction, as rpm is allready appropriate. But how do I attatch the lure holder contraption to the motor's shaft? I found the following: Power Transmission / Couplings and Collars but, none still look like what I need. The shaft collars are a start perhaps, but they seem to just leaveme with a bigger round shaft. Do they make some type of flange that attaches to the shaft and then can screw in several places to a board? thanks! Clemmy
KcDano
Don't know exactly what the lure holder comprise of. But you could easily fabricate something from a threaded pipe flange to attach to the board. A pic would help of your entire set-up.
KcDano
You might also investigate some of robotic parts suppliers Could be as simple as magnetic coupling provided it will stay coupled during initial starting load when fully loaded with lures Edited October 4, 2008 by KcDano
BobP
I'm using an $8 timing motor. I drilled an appropriate size hole in the wooden axle and simply epoxied the shaft into the hole. Has worked fine for the 3 yrs and counting.
mark poulson
Clemmy, Post a pic of both the motor, and your wheel, and maybe we can help.
clemmy
Thanks for your help guys ! found what I needed! Dan's sugguestion of a pipe flange led me on searches that gave me the term bushings, and that was what I was apparently missing. This is called a quick detatchable bushing: It fits the shaft of the motor, including key, and uses a set screw. Then I can screw the flange part to the end board of my new turner (yet to be built as I'm redesigning it, thus the lack of pics) Thanks so much! I hope this helps someone else if they get a gear motor off ebay... Clemmy

Spike-A-Pike
Hey Clemmy, Good to hear KC got you back on track... Could you post a few more pixs as you continue your redesign and build. I think it would prove helpful to others just getting started in hardbaits.
