zx202guy
There is a guy in LaCrosse Wisconsin that pours a football with a grub keeper. His name is Brad whiteacre with Yank'em Jigs. I dont have his number handy but he lives on 11th st. Look him up and give him a call. He makes a high quality jig. If you are looking for quantities...maybe he will work with you. The grub keeper on his jigs is the wire type (looks like a paper clip). It works better than any lead barb. Again, his jigs are top notch. Generally, he is slow to return emails but his address is...whitacrebrad@yahoo.com Edited October 10, 2008 by zx202guy added verbage
jigman2
zx202guy I own and produce Liberty Baits in Liberty,TX. I produce a football head finesss jig using the do-it screw loc for mine. They are fairly good. You must be sure not to hit the screw-loc with the torch when heating for the powder coating stage of the painting it will cause them to be brittle and break off. As for durability they are pretty good, however if they are bullet proof your sales will drop. as only a few will be needed. I have found that the do-it Screw-Loc is just a little large in diameter, (the diam of wire) smaller would be nice. I have contacted some custom spring mfg's. to make me a custom spring but they are slow at getting this done. my Jigman2:whistle: Edited October 19, 2008 by jigman2

If you are looking for the screw in type keeper, that goes in the mold, then I use tru-turn keepers. After that Do-It came out with their own jigs and coiled spring keepers. I'll stick with my setup, as I never had any break, and they last almost forever, unless you bend them back and forth. The tru-turn also lets you use it on any Do-It jig, that requires the weedless pins. To me it's a better sytem, than what Do-It came up with. But then again it's your choice. cadman
cadmanIf you have a link to True turn I would like to see it. I'm always looking for improvements for my customers!!!! Thanks Jigman2 I will post the info a little later, as I'm going out the door as we speak. I have nothing against the way Do-It came up with their spring coil system. I currently have about 40 different Do-It molds, and love Do-It products. I only think, that they could have made a more durable coiled spring holding system, since all the guys here compromised and made it better. TU was way ahead of Do-It's idea, and I would have figured that Do-It would have used this idea, as I personally find the info I got here first better. JMO. I will get you that info tonight, also PM me your e-mail, if you want and I can give you some more info, without writing pages here, unless others are interested. Again by no means am I saying anything negative about DO-It in my post, so guys don't jump all over me. Use what you want, and if you're happy with it so be it........... HAWGHUNNA
Guys, Wow...I'm getting great info. for the second do-it mold purchase, thanks. But what I'm looking for now is a good barb system that is poured as you pour your weedless jig heads, you get the football head with a good skirt collar followed with a good (lead) barb...maybe double barb sort of like the back end of an arrow head, making it extremely difficult to remove a plastic trailer once it is applied. Once again, thanks for the info shared...I intend on getting a do-it football mold with screw lock inserts very soon as well, and I would like the tru turn info as well. JSC
Since the subject of holding plastic to jig has been brought up (not speaking of the "Coil Spring" set up) .. I found for my own use that a round Nipple or Rivet Head type holding stem is better than, for lack of a better term . the "Barbed" type holder. My findings are that the plastic is cut on pushing (the Barbed Type) it on the stem while with the round nipple type it is expanded over and creates a suction to keep it on ... Would really like to hear others finding on this as I have watched it for years ... With the Nipple or Rivet the attached plastic must be exactly centered ... JSC Will try to post some pixes of what I am speaking of .. Edited October 19, 2008 by JSC error correction
cadman
The Tru-Turn spiraled keeper (TTK) shown here above is how us guys made shakey style jigs before Do-It Molds came up with there own version. I don
