drof99
You guys were right. I haven't even poured that much and I have become hooked on it already. I took some of the bait to work with me to show ONE friend and anyone who fished asked me how much it cost to make them. I didn't tell them anything about how much it costs. After that they all start saying they will give me a couple bucks for some. They start putting in special color orders and ask how long it will be. Anyone else get this starting out. I didn't give any away or say I would make any. It might upset some but oh well. I've already placed another order with Del for a large color set and a 5" tube mold. This is my first year flippin tubes and I've fell in love with. Are tubes hard to pour? I bought Del's 2 piece mold with a rod through the center of it. I also bought a razor blade cutter from Lurecraft. Has anyone used this tail cutter?
MTfishingrods
Nope no way is this addicting. But I will tell you a gallon of plastic sure dont go very far.
Zbass
drof99, Yep! Your done for. Go ahead and give up your job because it takes up too much time. More time pouring. Not really. Be careful on the custom colors as everyone has a different idea on color. Take for instance watermelon: At last count there is hundreeds of different variations. If you plan to sell some keep your selection simple to start. When you get to the point of I have to pour tonite instead of I want to pour tonite, it may be time to step back a little. Don't get me wrong, I have a couple of hundred different colors or combos that I can make, but I only use maybe a third of that for public knowledge. Besides, keep the custom exotic colors for yourself. Don't give anything away you may regret later. As far as the molds and the cutter, I have not used either so can't help much there. Did make my own cutter for some other baits and works great. Try to save some money for therapy later, You will need it. Zbass
RipLip
Well now you've done it! Next thing you know you'll have a new room on your property set up for pouring and your buying your plastic by the drums. Good luck and have fun. TAE73
I also bought a razor blade cutter from Lurecraft. Has anyone used this tail cutter? I have one they dont cut the best, I made one using a paint roller and small round craft cutting wheels. There is a TU member that makes or use to make them. drof99
Tae any chance on getting a photo of what you made? If anyone makes something for cutting tubes I'd be interested.
TAE73
Bojon and Del have shown/made these cutter but check out this post. I made mine simular to Dels, but Bojon's might be better for getting more downward pressure. Also just search for cutter. http://www.tackleunderground.com/forum/soft-plastics/10112-photo-tube-cutter.html
