Is there any preference as to when you do a few finishing touches to you plaster mold? (Perhaps scrape away a little excess plaster round some edges) Is it best to do this immediately after making the mold or after it has had time to dry out properly? Any help would be brilliant. njrfishing Posted October 25, 2008 Report Share Posted October 25, 2008 I've only made a few plaster molds and I do the sanding or finishing touches when the mold is completely cured and harden because I find it's too brittle and easer for the plaster to break when it's not completely cured. nova Posted October 25, 2008 Report Share Posted October 25, 2008 If you do your repairs/changes to the mold before it dries and make mistakes you can still repair it with water and a little rubbing; or even some fresh pop mix. If I am adding any appendages, dimples, etc, I will add those after the mold is completely cured. Dremel type tool works great on pop!
