bear21211
The presto pot can be bought at Walmart. Most of the ones talked about here are modified to have valve for pouring and a Stirring mechanism .These can be made very easily with a few instructions or you can do a stupid thing Like I did and pay 255.00 for one that is made by someone else. If you need some help with making one let me know.

Vodkaman
Mr Chops, it all really depends on where your basement is. Giving your location as 'you basement' isn't really helping US to help YOU. Dave

GB GONE
Do a search on preping one up as there have been a number of posts and discussions. I looked at buying one and setting it up but just opted to get one from Ozark Tackle. It has worked perfect and was not overly expensive to get a pre-tested, fully operational pot. Added a drill press stirrer on my own and it works (and has for over a year now), like a charm! Sure makes sticks a BREEZE!!!! Jim
RipLip
I got one from Ozark and it works great, the next few I basically used it as a template to go off and then you add your own accessories. Pyrex is still good for custom work and quick pours. Every application is different.
jenngirly
I got one from venuscandles.com and loved it, works great and its already altered!
bear21211
Maybe for candle making it does. Does not work for plastics.
COBRA
search on ebay, put in pouring pot or melting pot and look at ALL the auctions. i got a sta-warm 4 qt shipped to my door for $36!!!!! it was listed under melting pot for hot glue (to seal boxes) no one bid, i had emailed and said i will give you $20 plus shipping. done deal. look under candlemaking or put an add on craigslist for candle wax melting pots and you can find them cheap as well. bear21211
The Candle melting pots will be more trouble than they are worth. The valve is to far away from the heating element. They will stop up.You would be better off just making your own. Pots are like 25.00 at wall mart then you need a 3/8 tap and a drill bit for it. If anyone needs help Let me know. saint308
Or you can save yourself the trouble and buy the best one out there from Bears baits. Saint.
Richard Prager
I built a Presto Pot about two years ago but it's been collecting dust because it was a pain in the butt. I was stirring by hand and stayed far away from making any salted sticks. Bear sent me one of his stirring systems to try out with my pot and I can say that it made all the difference in the world. I poured a batch of sticks without any problems whatsoever. It sure beats the heck out of stirring every two sticks! I'll most probably will get another complete system as the cost of his pot is about the same as me making one with having to purchase the hardware for it. I'm also not the most handy person, not to mention being basically lazy!
GB GONE
LOL Richard!!!! I basically was like you... The stirring system made all the difference. I still do not use mine very much but when I do, I love that thing!!! Jim
Richard Prager
Yeah, I'm probably the only Hand Pourer in the world who was buying sticks at the store! No more, we tore them up on my sticks this weekend. Small, but tore them up none the less:yay:

bear21211
That would be correct if you are tapping with 3/8" NPT Tap. Let me know if I can help you. Bear
outdooradvantage
I also bought a pot from Bear, came ready to use . The price was fair and the quality is there.
