The Dutchman
The formula for Green Pumpkin from LC has changed with the new owners. I am out of the old color and I just loved it, and so did the bass. I have tried to duplicate it but to no avail. Would love to see the new owners bring it back. pastorshane
Thanks for the reply. That makes since. I like the old much better myself. I guess I'll have to tweek my recipe's to acomodate this.
GB GONE
I have always used a mixture of green pumpkin and watermelon brown for my green pumpkin color so I haven't noticed the difference. Seems weird this is just coming out as Kim and Shawn have owned Lurecraft for some time now and I would have to think that green pumpkin would be a color that would not sit on the shelf for very long. Maybe it is just a mixing mix-up from LC. Jim
Richard Prager
I just opened up a bottle of GP I received a few months back. It is totally different. (It does have a warning about a new formula)I used the same amount of drops. It is more translucent and it looks like it might be made with watermelon. Their GP was my favorite Lurecraft color and the one I got the most compliments with. I suck at matching colors and don't really like to bother with putting so many drops of this and so many drops of that. I don't want to have to take new pictures, either. I just HATE CHANGE! bassman843
what they really changed their color of gp has anyone requested a bottle of the old color.
outdooradvantage
I just opened and used a new bottle of LC green pumkin. The same amount of drops I used with the old GP and it is definatley darker. Could be a good thing as I have to use less drops. I just have to figure out how many drops to use to match the old formula.
Richard Prager
That's weird. My new GP is definitely weaker and is also a totally different color. A dollar to a doughnut says Kim will chime in soon.
pastorshane
Man, mine does look more "watermelony" than brown. I may have to develope a whole new recipe now.

outdooradvantage
Here is a picture of two different Green Pumpkin baits. The one on the left is the new color and the one on the right is the old color. These were both made with the same formula. Hopefully you can see the difference in the picture. I will try to contact LureCraft on Monday to see if they have changed the formula.
Richard Prager
Take a look at the side of the bottle. Mine say New Formula. I just came back from pouring some myself. Yesterday, I poured the same amount of drops (16) in a cup, no salt. I didn't really care for the change. I just poured 1 cup with 18 drops and 1 cup with 20 drops. Although there was not much difference between the 18 and 20, there was quite a bit between 16 and 18. It is not as green as the old formula but more olive or brown. The color is not bad, just different.

Poor Boy's Woman
Hey guys, I'm "chiming in". Yes, we did change the green pumpkin. It takes several colors to make green pumpkin and a little pigment goes a long way. Some of these pigments have been around since the beginning of LureCraft (over 40 years ago). We are starting to run out of some of them and when we go to re-order, the color we need is no longer made so we have to choose something else. One of our suppliers has come in to work with Shawn to make them as close as possible but it is very difficult. Remember, we use these colorants for our Poor Boy's product too and want to keep them as close as possible. If he has had to tweak anything, I am sure he will share that information with any of you. I do know we do not use straight green pumpkin and never have for our baits. I do not have time to get on here as much as I would like and I am starting to work on the 2009 catalog (I will be adding a whole line of fly tying products) so my time here will be even more limited. If you guys have any issues, good or bad, PLEASE call us. We want you guys to be happy!!! Thanks!!! Kim
pastorshane
Thanks for the reply Kim. Man that old formula was a great starter for several colors I pour a lot of. I guess I will have to start tweeking them to see what I get. Thanks again.
outdooradvantage
Yes thanks for the reply, I will have to try to come up with a new formula also. I will let you guys know what I can come up with in the next few days.
Poor Boy's Woman
You guys are welcome!!! We are as sorry to have to change as you are because we know you guys don't like to have to change something that works and we don't either but this is out of our control. If you need some help tweaking, give Shawn a call and he will be more than happy to help you.
Zbass
Has anyone come up with a good recipe for this yet?
The Dude
FYI---I just received my Lure Craft green pumpkin today from Jann's Netcraft and the bottle does NOT say new formula. So stock up now!!
outdooradvantage
I am useing just 10 drops of the new GP per 4 oz and I like it. I have also tried 15 drops GP and 2 drops white and it gets me pretty close, to the old GP.
Long Lake Lures
One thing that I have to mention is that a trip to Lurecraft is well worth the drive. Kim and Shawn are very friendly, helpful folks. Be forewarned, however, that you will be like a kid in a candy store! All the pouring supplies (including molds) and lure building material are out in the open, neatly organized on racks. If you behave:wink:, you may be given a tour of where they pour their baits and make their molds. You will spend alot of time browsing. I also found that they are rapidly expanding their inventory, so if there is something that you need that is not in their catalog, give them a call.
