Dubs Chops
seems like i see more stiks being poured on this forum than anything else? Am I right? Also if i'm not, what do you sell the most of? I am about to buy my first del-mart molds and I was wondering what I need to get first that i will use the most, for personall use and to sell. GB GONE
In my opinion, I would get a mold of a bait that I used a lot to fish with. That way, you can use the baits yourself and be confident in the product should you decide to sell some. If you choose a swim bait or a flippin bait and never use either, you will be hard pressed to talk about the bait performance and how to successfully rig/use the bait with customers. I see this frequently with larger and smaller bait companies. Many cannot answer questions about alternate rigging or tips that are not on their site. Gives me very little confidence in the bait or the manufacturer. Jim PS I don't offer sticks anymore as they are a dime a dozen everywhere. I sell more custom colors in a variety of baits, not one particular style over another. Maybe more hollow belly swims but 10" worms are popular as well. Also depends on the time of the season as to what bait is selling. Edited November 3, 2008 by ghostbaits
Bountiful Waters
Jim is right on with his advice. First, satisfy your need. All of my molds were bought or designed for my passion of Mexican Bass Fishing. If customers fish like I fish, then I can normally meet their need. Good hand pour businesses are going to get fewer and more far between due to tackle shops closing down and the state of the economy. I have no problem referring customers to others on this board and have in the past if I cannot meet their request and I know someone else on here does. We are all on the same team here. pastorshane
These guys are rite. I started pouring baits out of need verses want to. I throw a soft jerk maybe more than anything else, so when I couldn't find what I needed at a resonable price and good product I started making my own. Now I do pour some things I don't use but usually those start at customers request. Start with something you fish alot.
