12jgage
Would the bullet bass jig mold be a good mold for making a flipping jig to be used on a heavy flipping rod and braid? I would like a flipping jig mold that will produce an all around flipping jig for different kinds of cover. I will mostly be flipping wood, brush, and emergent vegetation. I know that this mold would be great for a swimming jig also, but want to know if any of you guys use it as a flipping jig? Thanks in advance. Basseducer
12jgage, I make alot of those specifially for flipping, they take a nice heavy hook and you can get several brands of hooks for them.
12jgage
Hey thanks for the reply. What is your favorite hook for the bullet mold if your making a flipping jig?
skeeterman24
Arky would be better for wood/brush and the bullet would be better for heavy weeds. I am going to use the Eagle claw 730 hooks for flipping. There are many brands but get something .055 to .061+ diameter. If you go to Barlowstackle.com and look at the jig mold you have it will tell you the compatible hooks you can use with it.

One thing to remember is when you get a carbon steel hook (Owner Gamakatsu) they are alot stronger than a regular hook of the same diameter
21xdc
For 20 years thats the only jig I used. I used the eagle claw 5/0 L2221 round bend. As soon as mustad came out with the 40-5/0 EWG with a 28-30* leg, I started using them and my bite to catch ratio went down imediatly. I was making a ton of these for others that also had the same results. I had bought them by the thousands and chose not to use them in my personal baits. Just for the guys that requested them until they were almost gone. Now I still have a few. As soon as I went back to a round bend hook, the hook ups were as good as usuall. Owner is the best hook out there with Gamakatsu a close second. I modify all my molds to accept a good hook and size that I want. Nice looking baits.
