reeves
Have been wanting to graduate to a gravity feed airbrush, just unsure as to which one to move up to. I currently have been using a Paasche VL for the past six years. It has served me well and I am overall happy with it, although it does have a few issues that gnaw at me. I've read most of the posts over the years that everyone does on the airbrush they are using and Iwata seems to be the winner. I spray several hundred spinnerbaits a week and the VL gets uncomfortable after long sessions. I see where Paasche has come out with their new gravity fed brush called the 'Talon'. Have read many reviews on it and for the money, it sounds like what I am looking for to do the work that I do. One day when time permits I will paint a crankbait, but for now, I am stuck in the wirebait world. Question is . . . . has anyone had any experience or heard of any feedback on this new product from Paasche? Very interested in what you all have to say about this brush, so fire away. Thanks in advance. George
kelly
Have to admit, just looking at it. It looks the goods. I am spraying the iwata high line and love it. But for that price and most of the bells and whistles on there. I would have to agree that it would be worth a try. All the parts look top notch on it. To tell you the truth it sounds like you have already made your choice! Ive read a few reviews on a airbrush site and I think you made a good choice. That is a lot of bang for your buck. reeves
kelly, thanks so much for taking the time to check it out. I appreciate and value your opinion. I guess no one else has had any experience with it. It is very new on the market and probably not much info about it as yet. After re-reading my post, I did sound like I had my mind made up, but was looking for opinions. Guess I will be a guinea pig for this brush. Again, thanks for the input. hazmail
Hi George - Not sure what medium you are spraying, but is certainly good value for money. It is on the high side as far as tip size goes - ".38mm Fluid Tip", but this is maybe just what you need, most guys seem to use a .3 tip, or .2 if you are spraying smaller lures, as I do. All I can see missing is an air valve (MAC Valve) which is usually down under the neck leading to the tip, which is sometimes handy to regulate air flow, without having to go to the regulator all the time. Keep us all posted, as there would probably be a heap of interest in this size tip/nozzle, I note it also has a good parts back up, which is pretty important to anyone in business, and you may need to replace a bent needle/ split tip, from time to time. pete
ipock2
I just bought on of the cheapo gravity feed guns withe the mac valve as mentioned on other posts. Tried it out today and it worked great. I paint mostly small crank baits and was amazed at how it sprayed pearlized paint at a low air pressure. I have used the paasche vl for a long time and it performed fairly well but I like the gravity feed alot better and it sure is easier to clean.
