Jig Man
I make some vertical baits and would like for them to be a bit harder, something like the consistency of a slider grub if you are familiar with that. I have tried hardner without success and without hardner my plastisol is too soft. I am looking at Calhoun 2901 and 2601 but have no experience with either. Any suggestions. Richard Prager
I use M-F regular and their hardener all the time. Both mix easy and doesn't settle out. You can make the mixture of your liking.
Bountiful Waters
Have you tried the 500 from Lure Craft?
Jig Man
Have you tried the 500 from Lure Craft? No I haven't. I have used Jann's stuff for quite a while. It works just fine for all but this application. I only use these baits in the winter and early spring. One quart will make hundreds of baits so I'd like to get it right the first time. I just went through this same deal: HOW MUCH hardner do I add to swimbait? -- link After you read the thread you see I settled on 500 and hardener and I achieved the stiffness identical to the Berkley swim bait I mention. I used 1 7/8 fl/ Oz of 500 and 1/8 Fl. Oz. of hardener. I found that to be quite stiff but necessary to get the double action of the swim bait as I described it. Jig Man
I use M-F regular and their hardener all the time. Both mix easy and doesn't settle out. Richard Prager
M-F Manufacturing, sorry M-F Manufacturing Co., Inc. - 817- 281-9488 / Fax 817-281-9498 VERY easy to mix and the plastic doesn't settle out at all. Their hardener is really thick and is actually pourable by itself. I use a 3:1 (regular to hardener) ratio everyday.
pastorshane
For stiffer baits I use Mf salt water formula no adding hardener and it has no settling. I love Mf plasticol!
