basskat
Anything new in the spinnerbait and buzzbait business? I made several of the triple and quad blade baits this past year. Other than that I'm not sure there's a lot more we can do to improve or change our baits. One other question, I had several calls for the titanium wire baits, although a pain in the butt to make, a few years ago. Now it seems everyone wants thin wire. They complain about the snags with titanium and I agree with them, they do roll over and hang. Y'all noticed this in your area?
Fat Ratz
Ever since Terminator got the patent on titanium baits I stopped messing with them. The buzzbaits did want to roll over though. Weirdest looking buzzbait I have seen this year is the new Booyah Baits buzzbait that is formed on either a 11" or 18" long wire form which causes the bait to shake up and down a lot. In theory this would work but throwing a 1/4oz buzzait on a 11" wire form in the wind may be fun. :
basskat
I used to sell 700 to a 1000 1/2 ounce buzzbaits a year. Last year everyone wanted the small 1/4 ounce baits. Who knows what this year will bring.

basskat
I just had a shop call this morning wanting 1/8 oz! I guess smaller is better afterall!
Markell
On page 207 in the Bass Pro Shops 2004 fishing master catalog there is a buzzbait that I found interresting. The hook, skirt and blade are on top while the weight is below the line tie. This may not be a new concept but I have never seen it before. topher
I have also gotten a few requests for the 1/8th oz. variety. I haven't even poured a single head yet and our friends are already wanting something different... sheesh! what does guy gotta do around here.... hehe. woodsac
I just saw a new spinner in one of my bass mags. It has a lexan type lip on the wire that goes from just below the top swivel, down to just behind the line tie. It's basically a crankbait spinner. It says if you let it sink to the bottom, it will continue at a max depth of 25'. Looks pretty interesting.
Triton Mike
I think the next biggest trend you will see from the Big Manufacturers will be Hidden Weight baits. Right now they are the hottest thing going for Spots and smallmouth here down south. Maybe Tungsten blades should be hitting sometime soon. I know of several companies coming out with their version of a hidden weight bait at the ICAST show in July. Just my .02 Triton Mike
WidowMaker
What is a hidden weight bait?
siebler_custom_baits
basically it is a heavy bait that appears as a small one because the majority of the weight is in the belly under the skirt.
Triton Mike
I would also suspect that inline blades would make a resurgence as well. Nobody really capitialized on that market even Hildebrandt with the snagless sally. There are alot of neat mods that I have done with a Inline that I haven't seen manufacturers capitalize on yet. Besides nobody fishes them anymore so that alone makes them great baits . Widowmaker for a pic of an hidden weight spinnerbait go to www.soblures.com and click on the mini me link on the front page.
