FishingBuds
how much should you expect to get out of a 100yd of thread wrap size A. mainly on spinning rods, I've been looking at some colors but I'm not sure about how much ot get. To keep it simple for me lets say same color for about 8 guides per rod Edited December 19, 2008 by FishingBuds
Mattman
You can do a lot of rods from one 100 yard spool. I've never tried to count but just as a guess based on how much black thread I go thru you can do 6 to 8 rods with a single spool.
Braided Line
how much should you expect to get out of a 100yd of thread wrap size A. mainly on spinning rods, I've been looking at some colors but I'm not sure about how much ot get. To keep it simple for me lets say same color for about 8 guides per rod Guide type will affect your number as well as blank size. Double foot guides vs single and small blank size vs large. How much over-lap also is in the equation. Are you wrapping by the "check?" What happens when you mess-up? Re-tie. To many variables for me so buy a couple of spools and enjoy. mark poulson
If you want strong thread that's "cheap", try using fishing braid. I use it to wrap hook hangers on my store bought rods, and it works fine. Of course, it's green, but I only do it for myself, so it doesn't really matter to me.
