Tony Maxwell
Can't find a post on what color silicone strips to use for specific skirts, I.E. Bluegill. I make up a shiner pattern using clear & white hologram with Pearl for the belly and either gray, black, or blue on the back, with 2 strands of red, for bleeding appearance, on bottom. What colors do you use???? Tony
rsinyard
Haven't tried a bluegill but I did create a yellow perch for a customer sometime back. I used 1/2 strand of orange fish scale on the bottom. 1 tab of chartreuse black fish scale for the body. 1/2 tab of watermeon then 1/2 tab of black for the top. I attached a picture for you. smalljaw
Thats part of the fun of making your own skirts, it allows you to make your own version of what it should be. I've seen roughly 50 bluegill patterns and they're all different including my own. I have a few different ones my self from green sunfish to bluegill to shellcracker, have fun and mix it up a bit and see what you come up with, who knows, you may find a pattern thats killer on what you're trying to catch! Munkin
Good luck with the bluegill pattern! I am on version 23 and still not satisfied.
Tony Maxwell
Risnyard, Your perch looks like it would catch the heck out of the smalljaws on Ohios north shore. Thanks. Tony
Tony Maxwell
Munkin, Especially like your red skirt band and the painted head. Have you thought about red eyes??? Thanks for the reply. Tony

Tony I like the red bands and only use them on bluegill or blk/red skirts. Around here the bluegills do not have red eyes so I stick with the silver for now. I do use the red eyes on the google-eye baits though. Allen
