NY OZ
I need modifying a jig mold.. It is set up to take a heavy wire hook but I want to use a light wire hook. I am a total newbee to pouring, so any help is appreciated.. Thanks, Rob
Basseducer
Rob, I would say just pour one with the hook you want, you might just get lucky and no modifications will be needed. At worst case you might get a little flash around the hook at the eye and or the hook channel. If that is the case then maybe just a little masking tape will be needed. 21xdc
You might try putting some Permatex ultra copper high temp RTV silicone in the area you want to plug up. It will hold up to the heat and flex to allow for the bigger hooks as well. I drill out areas in my molds pretty deep, Then fill in with this stuff and let dry. Then I can use reg and flat eyes and still works great. http://www.permatex.com/products/Automotive/automotive_gasketing/gasket_makers/auto_Permatex_Ultra_Copper_Maximum_Temperature_RTV_Silicone_Gasket_Maker.htm

Mags
Great tip on the high temp RTV. I have used JB weld. Add to the area you want to build up and use a dremel to drill it out as desired. Lay the hook where you want it, so it makes an imprssion while it is still wet so you know where to make changes once it dries.
21xdc
I just fill the hole over full with this RTV and let dry. Then take a razor blade and cut off flush with the mold. This RTV will shape to the hook etc and pour w/o any flash with all kinds of different hooks. Takes more heat than JBWeld too.
Mags
I'll definately give the RTV a try. Steve
