Please help me fix my Curado!

I recently took apart my old Curado 201, cleaned it, re-lubed it and reassembled it. I just gave it a test run and something ain't right. After I started my retrieve the spool would start to spin as if I had pushed the button to release the spool. Then it would re-engage when I turned the handle. It was basically disengaging randomly on it's own. So, what did I do wrong?! Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure what stage it re-engages but it could be 1 of 3 things. If it was working fine before cleaning , check to make sure the ratchet on the driveshaft is seated , check the base of pinion gear, it wears where it set on spool shaft, & check the pinion yoke and see if it sets all the way down on the release on base of the frame.

I haven't repaired very many Curado's , but being a Shimano one of these is the fix.

Make sure you didn't put the small drag washer on the bottom of the anti-reverse gear instead of on top. It could keep the clutch dog from engaging.

huh, i wouldnt know what your problem is but i have some advice. Take it apart and put it back togather agian.

Yeah, that did the trick. I am not sure what I did wrong the first time, but it's working now.
