mifon
After baking powder coated jigs, what's your process for glueing weedguards to jigs? What kind of glue do you use?
Basseducer
mifon, After curing I clean out the hole with the appropiate size drill bit and glue in the weedguard with a dab of D2T. I like to let them set for 24 hours before handling them. Some guys here use super glue gell and really like it, I have not tried it myself. Hope this helps. jimcline
I really like Goop adhesive. You can get it at Wal-Mart under the names sportsmans goop, marine goop, etc. It's the same stuff, different package. Just stick the end of the weedguard in a little goop, and glue it the hole and your done. I like it better than super glue because it dries flexible and not brittle. It's also great for gluing on eyes on lures, bass flies and just about anything else. JIM
cadman
I used to use D2T just like Basseducer, and I really like it, because if I coat my jigs, with D2T, then I only use one process. The only thing is that Devcon takes so long to dry. I currently use gel super glue, it dries fast and it's solid as a rock. The only problem with super glue is that if you use too much it wicks up, and when it dries it leaves a white powdery substsnce on the jig and the weedguard. I'm looking for another quick drying, no mess glue. I'm going to try Jimcline's idea. Maybe that's the ticket.

It dries in about 15 min or so and I've had no problems with the guard coming out. JIM
smalljaw
I go a little on the expexsive side by using flex coat 2 part epoxy but it goes a long way so it really isn't that bad. The reson is it's tough, water proof, has a little flex to it and I have never had a weed guard come close to coming out, I just use a tooth pick and put a tiny bit in the hole and then I take the weed guard and just dip the end in and stick it in, by putting a bit in the whole, when you seat the guard in place a little bit come out the side and competely seals the weed guard in. One other thing is it dries clear so there isn't any residue that shows up like I've had with some super glue gels.
Termite
The only thing is that Devcon takes so long to dry. Cadman, When I picked up my D2T I only looked for the 30 minute but do they have a 5 or 15 minute that would be a little faster and still work good? I have some Elmers 5 min. epoxy in my tool box but have not tried it yet. Mark

There are only two problems with this. #1 that epoxy will definitely yellow, if you don't care that's fine, but on a light colored jig it looks horrible. #2 This is the biggest problem. You probably have less than 5 minutes before it starts setting. It seems like a long time, but you won't do very many weedguards, with it setting so fast. Personally I would stay away from the 5 minute. JMO
Basseducer
Termite, D2T comes in a 5 minute formula, but you can only get about 3-5 jigs done before it's unusable. Then you have to thin or remix.
Old man in the boat
I get about 50 jigs per tube of super glue gel.
sim
I get about 50 jigs per tube of super glue gel. So far, I've gotten over 200 with my tube of GOOP - and i've still got plenty... Got the tip from this board, and haven't looked back!
