JDBaits
I have Been doing a lot of reading up on masks to get, and today on the way home I finally remembered to pick one up. This was kind of an impulse buy, so before I open it up I figured I would post it here. Is this a good mask or should I return it and find another? Its an MSA Safety Works Multi-Purpose Respirator Model 817663 here it is linked below http://www.home-improvement-superstore.com/msa-817663-mp-respirator.html Edited December 29, 2008 by JDBaits Wrong Link
alsworms
That's a great respirator. We use it in pest control all the time, so I'm sure it would be more than enough for pouring plastics.
bhorlings
That's the same one that I use and it works great!
The Dude
Is a respirator of this type necessary for pouring? I have been using the old-fashion kind that just cover your nose and mouth---not at all heavy duty like the one here.
JDBaits
Is a respirator of this type necessary for pouring? I have been using the old-fashion kind that just cover your nose and mouth---not at all heavy duty like the one here. Its recommended to use a mask while pouring, this mask might be over kill for pouring a few baits here and there. But with spending more and more time in the shop, coupled with my plans to start using dels floating additive I want to make sure im well protected. Travis
That respirator should be fine as mentioned. If you a lot of pouring you may want to think about the replacement of cartridges. Once volatiles are trapped they may be released later. We replace cartridges at work at least monthly or after 8 hours of continuos use. bhorlings
It may be overkill if you are pouring just a few baits but I look at this way... Safety first... too much is better than not enough any day of the week. I don't get the headache's or bloody noses I was when pouring without the mask. I don't have to smell the plastic or scent until I take the mask off so it is minimal time of exposure. We only get one go round at life so why not be safe.
