timjohnson
How many standard size jig skirts can you get out of a pound of round rubber, either the regular grade or the fine grade? I've never used rubber for skirts, but looking at purchasing some to try out. Looking at a catalog, a pound of regular grade is 86 feet and a pound of fine grade is 190 feet. Does it take more fine grade to make a skirt, or is it just "lighter" in weight than then regular grade?
Jig Man
I use 4" of round rubber per jig so that would be 86X3=258 jigs per pound. I don't know anything about the fine.
Basseducer
Tim, Just multiply the feet times 12 and that will give total inches. Then decide how long to cut the strips. I use two, 5" strips per jig of the narrow rubber. The rubber also comes in different widths depending on where you buy it. Hope this helps. psv
I saw Round Rubber in Netcraft and Barlows. Price between 16-18$ per lb. I want to try it, as well
