booneangler
Just wondering what rattles are the loudest for jigs. I been looking around trying to see if i could decide if it was worth buying them and putting them on or not. I thought about putting them on football jigs but the cost of them and the chance of loosing so many i dont know if i would benefit? Just wondering if any of you use rattles on any of your jigs and if so which rattles do you think are the best?
CUTTER
I tie glass rattles on alot of my jigs. tie on shank of hook depending on jig head style and length of hook . Most I tie I use a extra long shank hook. Tie rattle on hook epoxy over threads and rattle.I make these for twister tails and you have to use a thick head twister tail to slide over rattle - sometimes I tie hair on them to make hairjigs. smalljaw
Booneangler, I like the metal rattles with the steel balls inside, they have a more subtle sound than glass that seems to work a little better in the waters I fish. EironBreaker
I buy double rattles and bands from LivingRubber. The website doesn't show it but he has two sizes. WalMart carries the same big size of rattles but are more expense. I'd buy a pack from WalMart and see if you like them. I only use the clear bands, the black rabbit ear bands seem to break easier than the clear ones. The clear bands blend in with the color of the jig anyways. booneangler
but these rattles are not as loud as a factory rattle if you bought a jig from say strike king or someone like that.
