griffinsaic
Does anyone know where to find a smaller insert for a Do-it molds Style ZV Vibrating Lure? Insert must still be compatible with the mold. Also, is there an alternative to the Do-it Mold for the vibrating baits? Love the site. There is a wealth of information on here. cadman
If you are referring to smaller than what fits in there no, but Do-It Molds and Barlow's Tackle has them both, in brass and nickle plated for the correct size that's supposed to fit in there. Barlow's I believe is cheaper. As far as comparable inserts, I don't know of anyone selling any alternatives I had mine custom made. I had them made out of stainless steel, aluminum and copper. All the different metals fall and vibrate slightly differently. Edited January 5, 2009 by cadman
griffinsaic
Cadman, thank you for the quick reply. Where did you have your inserts custom made, and what was the price (if you do not mind me asking)? Did they fit in the Do-it mold, same size, etc.? cadman
I designed them, and a friend of mine cut them out on a laser. It is too cost prohibitive to cut on a laser. It is better to have them stamped out. But the problem with stamping, is you have to buy the die, and that is expensive, and then someone has to run the parts. Unless you are mass producing these by the 1000's it is very costly, to run even 100 either way you decide to go.
Saugerman
Another place to buy these inserts is Stamina Tackle, I've bought several 100 from them, they have very good prices. Saugarman
booneangler
stamina is a good place to buy from but they sell the blade blanks by the 10 and it is cheaper to buy them by the 25 pack! Just trying to save you a dollar or two.
CUTTER
I use willow leaf blades size 3.5 or 4's -You have to punch holes in for line ties. And make a slit in the blade using a dremil tool so the head you are molding dosn't fall off. You can make them cupped like [cicada's Reefrunner]-or flatten them out both have diferent actions. Many different molds will work -Round ball head will work just have to clean some flash off.I use the Swimming jig head and my baits will standup on bottom . Been making these for 10 years

griffinsaic
Cutter, That is a great idea. I would have never thought about that. I agree, can you please post some pictures. I have also attached one of mine. I call it bleeding shad. All powder paint, very durable. I ordered an airbrush, and will start spraying once it arrives.
