booneangler
Just wondering if any of you have used the Mustad 32746 Jig Hook that fits the Football head jigs? I have heard some reports of these hooks rusting really bad after using them and putting them back in your jig box. I could understand them rusting if you left a trailer on them. The salt from the trailer would make the hook rust but not just from the water i wouldnt think would cause it. Just curious to see if anyone has had this problem. Was going to order some in the black finish for some football head jigs.

Basseducer
booneangler, That's a fine hook, i use it all the time. Just be aware that it is a finer wire than other similar hooks.
booneangler
what is the best hook to go with?
robbor
The 32746 comes in bronze, black nickle, or red. I would only recommend using the black nickle. I have found that it is normally the strongest and most resistant to rust. Secondly you should not be storing your jigheads with plastic on them. The 32746 should be a light wire aberdeen hook so if you are intending to use it like a workhorse in heavy cover and big fish that is not its intended purpose. We use black nickle hooks in the ocean all the time with very few problems. Cheaper hooks are cheaper for a reason.
