The Dude Posted January 8, 2009 Report Share Posted January 8, 2009 I have a problem with all of my glitter only being on the top third of my baits. Looking at my baits from the bottom, there is no glitter. I am using all 1-piece molds. Am I not using enough? Should I go to a finer glitter (I'm using .035 at this point)? I'm happy with my molds and my coloring---if I can get this glitter thing fine-tuned, I'll some baits I can bring home to mamma! Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
The Dutchman Posted January 8, 2009 Report Share Posted January 8, 2009 Glitter will sink. If your plastic is too hot it will sink faster. Using a finer glitter (.015 or .008) will not allow the glitter to settle as fast. Also, reduce the temp of your plastic. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

bojon Posted January 8, 2009 Report Share Posted January 8, 2009 Cooler tempeture,and more stirring should solve your problem.When dipping tubes I use the dipping rod to stir the plastic at each dip.Works fine,like two birds with one stone. The Dutchman Posted January 8, 2009 Report Share Posted January 8, 2009 I think he meant that once the bait is poured the glitter goes to the bottom of the mold and the bottom has little or no glitter. This problem is usually too hot of plastic. Dutchman---that is what I meant. Sorry I didn't explain it clear enough. This weekend I am going to try turning down the temp when pour.
