BassMeat
Hey everyone! New to the site and new to jig making. I have been pouring screw lock skaky head jigs and now I am going to pour some football jigs. I think I have the pouring part down, but I want to make my own skirts. What I was wondering is if there is a guide or spreadsheet anyone has that has different colors of skirt tabs that make a certain popular color? EX. Cumberland Craw. Did not know what people used to make this color, it is one of my favorites. Any help would be appreciated for maybe this color and PB&J. Are there any specific starter kits that would suit what I am looking for? Thanks
wiredhatred
What I do is study current baits to get a good idea of what to use. Check your tackle box, or the internet like I do and look at baits in your favorite colors. You can usually distinguish the different colored strands used. As I mentioned before, it is to get an idea of what to use. Most of the fun I get making lures is creating my own color combinations and styles. You can try to get it exact, or have some fun being creative. As far as getting PB&J, just remember brown and purple and let your imagination lead your way. smalljaw
You are now going to end up with unbelieveable amounts of skirt tabs to make any color possible!!! If you want to make an exact copy of a particular bait you'll have have one in your possession to look at first, then you'll do a search for the colors you'll need. Most suppliers have the same basic colors but you'll notice that after the basics, each of them carry colors that are unique to the supplier, I usually end up ordering from 3 or 4 different suppliers. For PB&J I use the PB&J barbed wire skirt tabs from Stamina, these are a brown barbed wire pattern that have purple flake in the silicone and a subtle purple hue when the light hits it, it's about as good as it gets for a jig. Good luck on the search, I'm sure you'll discover some color combos you come up with yourself that work well on the waters you fish.
jimcline
If you're going to be making a lot of skirts, my advice is to get yourself a decent skirt making tool and not some of little plier things. Barlow's and other tackle outlets sell some good ones. Believe me, it will make your life easier.
Jig Man
Here is a link for you to look at. This guy has the best by the 100 prices I have seen on the net. I just ordered 400 from him and am expecting them today or tomorrow. FishingSkirts.com, Better Product Better Price for your fishing skirt needs. jmccoy70
I agree with Jigman, fishingskirts.com is the best place to get skirts. For PBand J I also use the pb and j barbed wire skirt, but I add some solid purple also. Just experiment and find what you like. You can buy 10 tabs at a time from fishingskirts too see if you like the colors or not. Good Luck.

rsinyard
From their website I"m not sure... is it 10 skirts for $.25? or $.25 per skirt? J is correct on this but the Living Image is the only one that is .25 each. All other tabs start out at .20 each. We are carrying skirt making kits now. You get 100 tabs, collars, skirt tool and boat box. Charles is also working on several new items that will hopefully be out this year. dannyp
I just want to say Charles at fishingskirts.com is a class act. I and my Business partner have started using them exclusively since fall of last year and couldn't ask for anyone better to deal with . You wont be disappointed with their product nor their customer service. Dannyp Tackle Doctors LLC
Stagio
Totally agree! Charles is the man. Loved working with him and his products are great quality at an exceptional price. You can find some "similar" pricing with less selection but his service is worth any extra you might pay. On another note, anyone have any experience with round rubber. I hear there is still a "cult" following for rubber skirts, I really don't have a preference. One thing I have noticed is color selection is drastically reduced. Especially with the green's- watermelon/green pumpkin. Any suggestions where I may find rubber in these colors?
